Summary As part of the Business Acquisition Department, the Marketing Manager’s primary role is to lead marketing support services to acquire new business and to ensure effective and timely company communications.
Essential Functions Primary Responsibilities Develop the individuals on the marketing team, providing them with opportunities for learning, increased responsibility, teamwork, growth in company/industry understanding, feedback and recognition.
Set goals and objectives for the marketing team, and oversee and measure marketing team workflow to best meet department and company objectives.
Lead the creation and implementation of the marketing plan, including research/analysis, strategy, budget, communications and promotions program and proposals/presentations - in support of the company strategic plan/direction.
Direct gap identification between client perception of the Balfour Beatty Construction brand and that which is desired, and creating/implementing branding strategies.
Marketing Plan Guide the marketing planning process.
Communicate the plan with and gain buy-in/commitment from the Leadership Team.
Implement and/or delegate implementation of plan components; monitor and measure progress.
Proposals Develop strip-out for proposals.
Participate in strategy development.
Coordinate with various proposal team members to obtain required information.
Proofread and edit proposals.
Create professional, creative layout and design for proposals by incorporating a balance of images, graphics, copy, and white space; include theme statements, features/benefits.
Provide quality reviews of proposals prepared by self and others.
Review/Approvals Advise, review and/or approve: press releases, employee newsletter/internal communications, brochures, advertising, direct mail, awards, photography, website, exhibit booth materials, survey management activities, proposals, presentation materials, etc.
Technology Be proficient in page layout, presentation, word processing, graphics and Business Tracker /CRM software and systems and ensure staff proficiency; ensure all are used to maximize our efficiency/effectiveness; maintain awareness of new technology to continually improve the work of our department.
Creative Support Make marketing creative support available for recruiting, subcontractor and special events, as well as support required by various departments.
Strategic Initiatives Lead, participate in and/or work with marketing representative in departmental initiatives such as Marketing Plan, Performance Scorecard, Boilerplate, CRM, etc.
Professional Associations Participate in professional association(s) related to role and industry; committee chair or board role.
Support Other Balfour Beatty Construction Operations Prepare and/or ensure prompt and thorough responses to sister company requests; maintain ongoing communications with sister company counterparts; primary point of contact for Corporate Communications.
Perform Other Duties and Tasks as Assigned Working Conditions The majority of work is completed in an office.
Travel to client offices or meeting sites is required.
Education, Experience and Knowledge B.S. in Business/Marketing/Communications or a related field preferred with 3 to 5 years of related experience preferred, or 7+ years of professional experience preferred.
Makes decisions under tight deadlines, occasionally in the face of incomplete information.
Demonstrates leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, delegate and provide direction to others, and effectively address issues.
Creates, manages, and revises schedules and related assignments based on priorities while considering work/life balance for self and team.
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.
Builds constructive and effective relationships, puts others at ease and establishes rapport; relates to all kinds of people at all levels inside and outside the organization.
Acts in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, its values, and the employees while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook).
Strong computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet, scanning, database and presentation communication software.
