REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Intern
HIRING RANGE: Weekly stipend of $125
WORK LOCATION: Remote
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Marketing Intern is responsible for specific marketing activities to expand the visibility and understanding of the Girl Scout mission and values. Their primary focus is utilizing social media to market Girl Scout program activities and membership opportunities. The Marketing Intern will focus on maximizing Girl Scouts’ relationship with our customers by tailoring social media and content and ads to target specific audiences. They will be involved in creating our messaging across our social media channels to engage existing members and bring on new ones.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) social media materials, graphics and messaging that will educate as to the value of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, benefits for girl members and the need for volunteers.
- Organize and moderate special social events, i.e. Facebook and Instagram Live.
- Film and produce videos for use on social media, specifically Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- Respond to incoming messages and comments on social platforms.
- Help the team discover what content is performing best by creating reports for the team on performance metrics of social media posts and ads and adjust strategies to optimize outreach.
- Increase the number of followers / likes on our social media platforms by following and engaging with customers and prospects.
- Research articles, resources and other content that is relevant to our brand.
- Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.

Education, Experience & Certifications
- Enrolled in or a recent graduate of a place of higher education (Sophomore or higher class) with a major in Marketing and/or Communications, Graphic Design or a closely related field
Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge and utilization of various marketing campaigns and networks (flyers, radio, billboards, social media, etc.).
- Familiarity with Canva, Photoshop and InDesign platforms strongly preferred.
- Excellent problem solving and trouble-shooting skills.
- Ability to present to a variety of audiences with confidence and clarity.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in person, by phone and in writing by e-mail with prospective members, parents/guardians, volunteers and colleagues.
- Proficient in social media technology, specifically Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
- Familiarity with social media analytics to assess trends and measure success.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Power Point, Word and Excel.
- Reliable and punctual attendance with willingness and ability to work regular hours and additional hours as required including occasional evenings and weekends when required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements
- Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement.
- Become and remain a registered member of GSUSA, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont.
- Successfully pass a criminal and driver background investigation.
- Hold a valid state-issued driver’s license, valid auto insurance, acceptable driving record and access to a vehicle on a daily basis with willingness and ability to travel through the council’s geographic area.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls including the operation of computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; bend and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear within normal range for telephone use. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as viewing a computer terminal, preparing and analyzing data and figures and extensive reading.
