Magnolia Plantation & Gardens is seeking a creative and motivated Marketing Intern to join our team. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the marketing and communications field within a historic and nature-focused environment. The Marketing Intern will support Magnolia’s mission to showcase our three pillars—history, horticulture, and nature—by assisting in various marketing initiatives, including social media, content creation, event promotion, and customer engagement strategies.

What you will be doing:

  • Content Creation: Help develop written and visual content for marketing materials, including blog posts, newsletters, and event promotions. Capture photos and videos of the property, events, and guests to be used in marketing campaigns.
  • Social Media Management: Assist in creating, scheduling, and monitoring social media posts across multiple platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Engage with followers and help respond to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner.
  • Email Marketing: Assist in drafting, editing, and distributing email campaigns to targeted audiences. Support the maintenance of the email marketing database.
  • Event Support: Assist with the planning and promotion of events, such as seasonal festivals, educational programs, and specialty tours. Support on-site event logistics to help create a memorable guest experience.
  • Market Research: Conduct research on competitors, industry trends, and target audiences to help refine marketing strategies and enhance Magnolia’s outreach efforts.
  • Community Engagement: Work with the team to engage with local organizations, schools, and community groups to build relationships and spread awareness of Magnolia’s mission and upcoming events.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with general administrative tasks related to marketing and communications as needed, including maintaining organized records of digital assets, schedules, and reports.

Team Spirit: Represents a team spirit and positive attitude when handling other duties as assigned, providing support across departments as needed.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Broadcasting, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and an interest in social media strategy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and some experience with design software like Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar tools is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask.
  • A passion for Magnolia’s mission and an interest in history, horticulture, or nature.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
