We are currently looking for a Media Technician to join our growing team!
This key role will perform duties in the microbiology laboratory to maintain its efficiency in consumables and maintain the highest standard of cleanliness throughout the building/facility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Measure and weigh ingredients to prepare growth media used for sample, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests.
- Prepare grown media plates and Gram stains used for microbial product testing.
- Operate and perform routine calibration on laboratory equipment such as balances/scales, pipettes, pH meters, and incubators.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory items (glassware) using an autoclave.
- Aseptic/sterile techniques, serial dilutions, knowledge of agar/broth media, and media preparation.
- Perform floor cleaning and special project cleaning throughout the facility as assigned or scheduled, with particular attention to high traffic areas and the microbiology laboratory.
- Maintain storage areas properly, keeping them clean and reporting any repair concerns to management.
- Transport and removal of facility waste. Transportation and disposal of this material is done in a manner consistent with applicable regulations.

- Receive a satisfactory evaluation of job performance.
- Work with all personnel in the laboratory.
- Work primarily in a laboratory environment with the appropriate PPE and follow established laboratory safety practices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an Associate degree with a concentration in Biological or Chemical science is desirable. Credit toward a Degree may substitute for Associate's Degree criteria (decision under Management's discretion).
- A minimum of one (1) year of work experience is required to be considered for Media Technician II.
- The ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing, with scientific and non-scientific personnel is required.
- The ability to complete documents with accuracy is required.
- The ability to place laboratory supplies in storage areas located at varying heights is required.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to established laboratory safety practices is required.
