The Role Complex NTWRK is looking for an experienced and passionate in-house Media and Entertainment Attorney. Our ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of experience drafting and negotiating agreements pertaining to licensing, digital publishing, advertising, marketing, content production, and content distribution. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary stakeholders to structure, draft, negotiate, and advise on intricate, multi-faceted media agreements. You must be able to work independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. A strong work ethic, professional demeanor, and business acumen are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities Provide legal guidance and expertise to company executives and department heads regarding laws, regulations, industry customs, and practices related to licensing, digital publishing, advertising, content production, and content distribution. Structure, draft, negotiate, and manage complex and often first-of-their-kind commercial contracts relating to digital media, entertainment, and publishing. Structure, draft, negotiate, and manage contracts relating to advertising sales transactions with direct and agency clients. Support legal requirements for all monetization efforts across social media, video sharing, and streaming media platforms. Prepare deal summaries for use by brand partnerships, content & editorial, advertising, and finance teams. Analyze and advise on the ramifications and relative risk of deal structures. Create and maintain template forms, guideline documentation, and training materials. Qualifications JD required from an ABA accredited university. An active member of the California or New York state bar. 5+ years experience as a practicing in-house attorney at a digital media publisher or relevant law firm experience. Experience counseling and partnering with cross-disciplinary stakeholders on complex business and legal issues. Experience with entertainment and digital media transactions including licensing, digital publishing, advertising, content product, and content distribution. Strong analytical capabilities and judgment, even when the rules and law are unclear and the issues are of first impression. Experience with music licensing, rights clearances, and marketing review. Excellent drafting, negotiation, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Google Workspace, DocuSign, Airtable, Monday.com, Slack, and Contract Lifecycle Management Systems. Preferred Qualifications Previous startup experience a plus. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline-intensive, in-house environment and manage a high volume of transactions. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Complex Total Rewards offerings for employees.
