Vctavern
Head of PR & Media Relations NFX Job at Vctavern in San Francisco
Vctavern, San Francisco, CA, United States
Hello.
We’re NFX, the largest pre-seed and seed venture firm in the world and one of the fastest growing brands in tech. Everything we do is about giving startup founders an edge.
We’re a passionate 45+ person team of founders, operators and leaders building software, creating tactical startup content, and investing in world-class startups.
Now we’re expanding our “storytelling team” with the addition of a new Head of PR & Media Relations role.
SO WHO ARE YOU?
You’re a natural leader. Charismatic, perceptive, humble, humorous — and confident. By that we mean not just “I can do it” confident, but also “It’s ok if I can’t do it” confident. You’re a natural communicator. You understand the implications of language. People learn to trust you quickly.
You hustle. This is both a service job and a sales job. You’re selling other peoples’ visions in the form of stories. Speed, decisiveness, dexterity, endurance, and plenty of empathy gets the win.
You’re networked. You’ve been at this for more than a few years and have a great reputation in the industry. You’ve built solid tier 1 media relationships. You’ve secured stories in top tech publications, and have a strong network specifically in the Bay Area.
You’re inventive. You look for workarounds. Paywalls are getting annoying. Lead times don’t always come on a silver platter. How do you tell the best story in the right place at the right time, even if it’s nontraditional? You know when to use a tried and tested method, and also when to burn the status quo.
You speak “startup”, “tech”, “VC”, and more. You’ve been doing this long enough to know the lingo. You’ve learned to pivot on a dime when crafting messages in the “language” of your audience.
You’re an insatiable learner. Before you pitch anything, you seek to understand all sides and nuances. Complexity doesn’t intimidate you.
The NFX Team will probably *not* be a good fit for you if:
You prefer as little ambiguity as possible.
Failing is stressful for you, and so you hide from it.
Meeting aggressive, numbers-based goals makes you nervous.
You don’t communicate your learnings.
You don’t check email/text on weekends.
You don’t read Twitter and tech news as a hobby.
You take it personally when someone doesn’t buy into your idea.
You’re not naturally captivated by founders and startups.
Excited? We are too. We can’t wait to talk to you.
