- Monday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Tuesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Wednesday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Thursday, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
- Friday, closed
- Saturday, 9:00am to 1:00pm
- Sunday, closed

COMPENSATION:
- $25 per Hour
- Training & Development Provided
- 1099 Position

UpBeat Music & Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 2013 to help youth reach their fullest potential through music and art.  Upbeat believes economics should not be an obstacle to learning music, and the organization offers scholarships to those in need.  Their teachers are a passionate group who make a difference in the lives of each and every student - they are not only outstanding musicians, but truly relate to young people.  Their students learn life lessons such as accountability, discipline, respect, kindness, and humility through fun and interactive lessons.  Individual and peer-based small group learning environments help to facilitate social and emotional  growth, while students learn the fundamentals of music performance and theory, gaining confidence and self-esteem along the way.  Upbeat currently employs 20 instructors and is excited to expand their team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The new instructors will focus on either piano or voice instruction, working with a collaborative team and gaining valuable insight into teaching and mentoring.

Piano students are ages 5 to 17.  Voice students are ages 8 to young adult.

Nearly all lessons are in-person, with virtual lessons offered only for special circumstances.

Overall duties include:

- teach individual lessons
- teach in group settings when needed
- teach theory, technique, performance, and composition
- utilize exercises and games to help motivate students to learn
- conduct ongoing assessments of student achievements through formal and informal testing
- plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies
- help to coordinate and support program activities
- contribute towards organizing activities, curriculum design, and student / parent feedback
- help to apply and enforce student discipline when necessary

Piano instructors also co-teach an instrument-specific music curriculum and assist in creating, organizing, and managing games, recreation, and team-building exercises.

These are exciting opportunities for talented musicians to make a difference in the lives of youth through music and arts.  While teaching experience is preferred, UpBeat places more value on passion and the ability to effectively interact with youth, and is happy to provide training.

REQUIREMENTS:
- formal music education or training
- proficiency in piano or voice performance
- proficiency in music theory
- strong interpersonal and communication skills 
- a passion for working with youth
- previous experience in music education, summer camps, or similar settings preferred
- we are unable to consider self-taught musicians at this time
- voice instructors must be able to accompany students on piano
