DIRECTOR OF MUSIC & SACRED ARTS

POSITION REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Director of Music & Sacred Arts will be to lead the contemporary worship service and grow the music ministry of LWCC. The Director of Music & Sacred Arts has the responsibility to develop a comprehensive Music and Worship program which includes all traditional and contemporary worship venues such as drama, dance, vocal and instrumental talent. Will train and direct all main choral units and will be responsible for identifying ways to bring new excitement to the Worship experience.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

1. Shepherds worship ministries (music, dance, drama).

2. Shepherds worship support ministries (Ushers, Greeters, Security).

3. Trains volunteers for service in worship ministries.

4. Shapes diverse and versatile worship experiences for all ages that is theologically informed and Christ-centered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides leadership to the LWCC worship ministry – total program development and management.

2. Provides the direction and leadership for all involved in the worship ministry and the church to articulate and implement the vision of the Senior Pastor of LWCC.

3. Coordinates with the Senior Pastor the general and specific structure of worship services and the type of music to be used at each worship opportunity.

4. Leads and manages instrumental ensemble ensuring they are prepared for all worship activities. Conducts annual performance reviews for paid staff.

5. Provides necessary information for the Worship leader for Sunday weekly worship, mid-week evening worship, special events, concerts, and funerals. Weddings will be handled as a separate contractual event between the wedding party and the music minister or his/her staff.

6. Travels with the Senior Pastor/Church when requested to other Churches and/or conferences.

7. Organizes concerts and musicals that will produce revenue for LWCC.

8. Maintains the worship arts budget and all music inventory purchased and housed in the Music Ministry.

9. Provides leadership and direction to special events to include but are not limited to:

· Worship & Arts Ministries

· Various Church conferences

· Pastoral and Church special events

· Funerals

10. Other responsibilities/duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Choral Music, Conducting or related field. A minimum of five-ten years’ experience leading a church choir or choral entity. Ability to read and write music. Familiarity with distinct types of music, i.e., hymns, anthems, classical, gospel, etc. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent management skills. Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with staff and volunteers. Excellent organizational skills. Experience with social media including Facebook, ProPresenter (or willingness to learn). Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Should have a heart for God and a servant's attitude.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Requires sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, and some dexterity in operating office equipment. The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing and speaking abilities.
