Are you seeking a position at a fast-growing private Classical Christian School? We are seeking a dedicated Music Teacher to join our education team at our Lake Park Campus. PBCA is part of Family Church - a growing network of neighborhood churches and Classical Christian schools in South Florida.

School Music Teacher - 10-month position

Position Overview

As a school education professional, you will help shape future Christian leaders who will advance God’s church, community, and His Kingdom on earth. This position implements a classical Christian curriculum that involves a love for ancient wisdom, instilling virtue, connecting Christ to every subject, and developing world- class rhetorical skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with their team and director to create a vibrant classical school culture in assemblies, chapels, and in the classroom.

Reports to the School Administration

Qualifications

  • Evidence of strong Christian faith and values and acknowledgement of the School’s Statement of Faith and Staff Leadership Covenant.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject matter or bachelor’s degree with Teaching Certificate in subject area preferred or evidence of enrollment in an accredited college/university in completing a state approved teacher preparation program within three years of date of hire or in the field experience.
  • Knowledge of Music curriculum and the ability to implement it.
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and Administration.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Must pass drug test and Level 2 background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in the skills necessary to access information in all formats to both large groups and individual students.
  • Write lesson plans and newsletters that meet the goals as set forth by Administration.
  • Establishes and maintains and models standards for acceptable student behavior and religious beliefs, using appropriate techniques.
  • Imparts the Family Church Christian vison, mission, and doctrinal beliefs to each student through curriculum and classroom routines to further the religious mission and beliefs of the church.
  • Teaches knowledge and skills in the music curriculum to students utilizing the course of study prescribed by the approved curriculum.
  • Adapts curriculum to the needs of the students with varying intellectual abilities, and to accommodate variety of instructional needs.
  • Evaluates each student’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding in relationship to the level being taught; communicates with homeroom teacher and Administration on individual student’s progress.
  • Teaches skills in music understanding/appreciation, harmony, explorations in music and choral music in relationship to the level being taught.
  • Follow Policies and Procedures as set forth by Administration.
  • Provide a clean, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Participate in all school meetings, trainings, and orientations.
  • Complete all in-service hours on time.
  • Turn in all required paperwork on time.
  • Praying with students.
  • Maintain appropriate records for students.
  • Establishes and maintains standards for acceptable student behavior using appropriate techniques.
  • Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others.
  • Coordinates music programs for school chapels.
  • seasonal programs, and graduation.
  • All other duties as assigned.
