Part Time Music Instructors for Piano, Singing, Cello and Violin Job at Happy Mi

Happy Minds School Of Music LLC, Bellevue, WA, United States

Job Description

Job Description

Our mission at the Happy Minds School of Music (HMSM) is "Inspiring individuals and communities through exceptional music education, accessible to all." HMSM is committed to inspiring students of every age and skill level by providing exceptional music education.

At HMSM, we recognize that music careers are often uniquely shaped by the artists- and while teaching frequently plays a part in that career, a focus on performing at a high level can sometimes leave little room for early-career musicians to gain practical opportunities in teaching. We know that teachers can have a positive impact through their presence by sharing their passion for music and the resilience that mastery of performance requires. We learn from our work that teaching in any setting is an incredibly complex activity, and we believe that teachers will be most successful if they have support and time to reflect on their growth.

Happy Minds School of Music is now seeking music instructors to teach Piano, Singing, Cello and Violin

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree above in music education or performance or five years of teaching experience.
  • For Conservatory Connections teaching, 3 to 5 years of experience is preferred.
  • Certified and bilingual music educators are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience leading groups of chamber music.

Related Experience: Individuals will join a team of faculty committed to providing all members of society access to the highest level of music education. The successful candidate must show exceptional maturity and leadership and an ability to effectively communicate and follow the mission of the Conservatory and the policies of the President and Board of Directors.

The Conservatory provides the following benefits for all employees:

  • Employee Bonus Program

The Position:

  • Ability to commit through one academic year at a time. Teaching faculty positions are typically ten months (September to June)
  • Opportunities to extend employment for the additional two summer months
  • Must have scheduling availability on several weekdays during after-school hours (4 pm-8 pm), plus additional availability for office hours during one or more weekdays.
  • The Salary Information listed in the posting is the monthly full-time salary in line with this range.
  • For employees working 20+ hours, including PTO and holiday leave. Above-average commute time bonuses are available for all employees.
  • Applicants must reside in the United States, be legally qualified to work there, and must submit to customary background checks.

What's Involved:
Positions involve a combination of teaching and program management within the local partner school(s) in which the Faculty Member is placed. Responsibilities include:

  • In-school: teaching and student performances
  • Out-of-School: parent communication, lesson planning, scheduling, progress reporting, supplementary virtual learning
  • Promoting the program and driving enrollment at partner school events throughout the year, particularly during registration in Aug/Sept
  • Participating in professional development opportunities through collaboration with senior resident Faculty Members and staff

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Is able or willing to teach more than one instrument at a beginning level, or ideally all three (curricular resources and assistance for your non-primary instruments are available!)

  • Is passionate about having a direct impact on the primary education system in this country
  • Is comfortable teaching students in small groups of 3-4 students

  • Takes initiative and is confident working independently to represent the organization as an employee at our partner schools
  • Has experience with leadership or project management
  • Can work closely with office staff in administrative and professional development functions
