Dallas International School (DIS) is accredited by ISAS (Independent Schools Association of the Southwest), France's Ministry of Education, and the International Baccalaureate Organization.
With 686 students of over 30 nationalities, DIS is an international school on a human scale and the only one with a French and multilingual curriculum in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a city of seven million inhabitants which is in full demographic and economic expansion. We are currently seeking a Music teacher for middle and high school at our upper campus. Priority will be given to candidates who are certified. At least 3 years of experience as a Music teacher are necessary.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage an organized and professional classroom that is conducive to learning and development:
- Maintain complete and accurate records of each student’s academic development using both school wide and classroom based formative and summative assessments.
- Plan, document, and carry out daily lessons that align to the curriculum and academic standards.
- Recognize the needs of individual students and group at large. Offer support as needed using flexible groups, workshops, compacting and other differentiation models.
- Establish consistent and logical limits, expectations, and classroom routines for students to allow for maximization of learning.
- Maintain an organized and inviting physical environment.
- Handle stressful situations with grace, patience, understanding, and flexibility.
- Foster a cooperative and respectful partnership with DIS families:
- Maintain close relationships with parents, communicating on a regular basis.
- Facilitate parent-teacher conferences each semester, providing written materials as required.
- Encourage parent involvement through volunteer opportunities.
- Maintain open communication with families via teacher webpage, email, phone conversations or parent meetings.
- Work as part of a cooperative and diverse team of educators and administrators to carry out the mission, vision, and values of DIS:
- Model intellectual curiosity, exceptional character and civic engagement.
- Attend, participate in, and contribute to in-service activities and staff meetings.
- Participate in the development of curriculum and assess its effectiveness in the classroom.
- Consult appropriate school administration and specialists in a timely manner to address the needs of struggling and gifted and talented students.

- Observe the classrooms of colleagues as possible.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Music and/or related field.
- Three (3) years of teaching Music or a related subject area at the required grade levels.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and valid teaching certification.
- The flexibility in attitude and teaching styles associated with a private school education.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Music and/or related field.
- Five (5) years of teaching Music or a related subject area.
- Familiarity with educational technology such as interactive boards and multimedia instruments.
- Bilingual French language skills are a plus.
