Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a LPN to support our offices located in Newport News and Hampton.

Responsibilities:
- Assist with injections, pap smears, biopsies, and LEEP procedures.
- Prep lab specimens for send out.
- Assess patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans.
- Set up procedures (i.e. port placement and blood transfusion), referrals, and obtain prior authorization.
- Obtain pathology reports, manage faxes, and return emergent and non-emergent patient phone calls.
- Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow.
- Documents all elements of care.
- Serve as a resource to the Medical Assistants.
- Communicate all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician, nurse, or advanced practice provider
- Assess patient and family needs.
- Complete new patient chart prep for physician team ensuring all elements of the patients work up is available to for review upon first appointment with provider
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate from an accredited school for practical nursing.
- Current LPN state license and registration with the State Board of Practical Nursing in practicing state.
- Minimum of two years-experience as a practical nurse in a hospital or clinic setting preferred but not required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Must be willing to travel between offices when needed.
