The Internal Communications and PR Manager helps FCA communicate with excellence through its various channels to FCA internal audiences and externally to the public and media. This person understands how to inform and motivate audiences through timely, strategic communications.
MINISTERIAL DUTIES
- These responsibilities are critical to the FCA mission, and this position plays a vital role in our ministry. FCA expects all functions and responsibilities outlined below to be carried out with a heart surrendered to serving God as a form of worship.
- Agree with, and abide by, FCA’s Christian Community Statement.
- Follow a spiritual rhythm including daily prayer and Bible study to seek the Lord’s will for FCA.
- Lead, conduct and provide spiritual leadership for staff, volunteers, coaches and athletes through prayer, Bible study, worship and living by example so they are equipped to serve others.
- Connect to and participate in a local church through worship and weekly involvement.
- Conduct yourself in a manner that affirms biblical standards of conduct in accordance with FCA’s Christian beliefs (see FCA’s Christian Community Statement) at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Internal Communications
- Coordinate communication of announcements, deployments and vision from FCA leadership to internal audiences.
- Be FCA’s brand champion by infusing FCA’s vision, mission, strategy, values, voice and persona in all internal communications.
- Create, write and manage internal communications and announcements to FCA staff.
- Create a calendar and oversight system for effective internal communications cadence, and project manage the collection of necessary communication assets.
- Develop and execute strategic internal communication plans.
- Write, publish and distribute timely internal messaging through organizational email, intranet, web platforms and other channels.
- Support the communication deployment and change management of new products, services and resources to internal staff audiences.
- Coordinate the communications and announcements from FCA’s President and Executive leadership both internally and externally.
- Prepare regularly scheduled and as needed communications on behalf of President and Executive leadership.
- Edit and revise content as necessary.
- Implement metrics reports to measure effectiveness of internal communication channels and measures internal communications with the goal of continuously improving strategy to reach and engage staff.
Public Relations
- Establish and maintain positive relations between FCA and its constituents through the creative use of news, media and other public relations methods. Promote and protect the image of FCA.
- Coordinate public relations efforts that promote and protect the ministry.
- Act as the primary point of contact with FCA’s retained PR firm.
- Provide direction and content for press releases.
- Coordinate media interviews for CEO, senior leadership, field leaders and other spokespersons.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, PR or related degree.
- 5+ years of relevant communications work experience.
- Superior writing, grammar, editing and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail, organization, project management and follow-up skills.
- Experience in using email platforms like Constant Contact.
- Agile and change management understanding and experience.
- Solutions-oriented self-starter.
- Strategic thinking and ability to execute at all levels of an organization.
- Ability to juggle shifting priorities and multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and related programs.
- Knowledge of and passion for sports and preferably with previous involvement with FCA.
- Mature Christian.
