Student Worker - Publishing
This part-time, temporary position will work out of the Augustine Institute Florissant, Missouri location with the potential to be remote.
Position Summary:
The Publishing Assistant Student Worker is a valuable member of the publishing team, providing key support in executing grammatically clean and error-free work to ensure consistency among products. The Publishing Assistant will gain insightful knowledge into the publishing industry, learning about both the procedural processes each new product goes through, from manuscript to printed form, as well as how to adhere new products to the Augustine Institute Style Guide and CMOS. This includes (specific duties are listed below, but are not all-inclusive of the position):
Learning procedural processes that pertain to the production line of all printed materials.
- Ensuring all study guides, trade books, and devotionals produced by the Augustine Institute adhere to the Augustine Institute Style Guide and CMOS.
- Maintaining and updating files on the server to create “Print Ready” folders.
- Managing errata files to create print-ready materials for the current list of reprints.
- Proofreading study guides, trade books, and devotionals for scripture passages and Catechism references.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Augustine Institute Graduate Student in good standing
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Knowledge of Augustine Institute Products
- Knowledge of Style Guides and Chicago Manual of Style preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comfortable working with Word Documents in “Track Changes” mode.
- Experience using Adobe Acrobat & track changes in Word.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a productive and collaborative member of the publishing team.
- Possesses knowledge of the Augustine Institute mission and products.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to accurately follow verbal and written instructions.
