Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Casting Director to join our Elastice Heart team for the production of the ReelShort Mobisodes. As the Casting Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire casting process to select talented actors who best fit the roles within our series. You will collaborate closely with the production team, understanding the characters' personalities and requirements, ensuring that the chosen talent aligns with the creative vision of each project. This role requires a sharp eye for talent, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work seamlessly with both the creative team and potential actors.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the production team to understand the vision, tone, and requirements of the ReelShort Mobile Series.
- Create character breakdowns detailing the traits, attributes, and backgrounds of each role.
- Conduct auditions, either in person or via video submissions, to assess actors' suitability for specific roles.
- Provide guidance and feedback to actors during auditions, helping them understand the character and scene requirements.
- Collaborate with the director and producers to make final casting decisions, ensuring that selected actors bring authenticity and depth to their roles.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with selected actors, including compensation and scheduling details.
- Maintain a database of talent, keeping track of actors' availability, skills, and previous work experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging talent, and casting techniques to enhance the quality of casting choices.
- Liaise with talent agents, casting agencies, and other industry professionals to source potential actors for auditions.
- Manage casting calls and announcements, ensuring that they reach a diverse pool of actors.
- Coordinate with the production team to schedule rehearsals, fittings, and other pre-production activities with the selected cast members.
- Provide support and guidance to actors throughout the production process, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Casting Director, with a strong portfolio of previous casting work for television, film, or digital content.
- In-depth knowledge of the entertainment industry, including emerging trends, casting processes, and talent scouting.
- A keen eye for talent, with the ability to assess an actor’s suitability for various roles based on their skill set, appearance, and fit within the overall vision of the project.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with experience in dealing with agents, talent, and production teams.
- Creative problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to handle unforeseen challenges and adapt to evolving project requirements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse creative team, including directors, producers, and writers, to ensure the casting process aligns with the overall vision and goals of the project.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multiple casting projects simultaneously, with exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent understanding of diverse acting techniques, including knowledge of various performance styles and the ability to spot emerging talent in both established and up-and-coming actors.
- Experience with contract negotiations and knowledge of industry-standard terms for talent agreements.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with actors, agents, and talent representatives across a variety of industries and regions.
- Familiarity with casting software and tools used in managing talent pools, auditions, and call sheets.
- Adaptability to different production environments, including high-paced, fast-turnaround projects.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results under tight deadlines.
- Passionate about storytelling and understanding how casting plays a pivotal role in bringing a script to life.
