This role involves ensuring the vessels operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. The Technical Director will provide strategic direction, leadership, and technical expertise to the technical management team, supporting the continuous improvement of vessel performance, maintenance, and repair operations. Technical Director ( Tankers ) Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic plans for vessel maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and upgrades, optimizing operational performance and cost-effectiveness. Oversee the preparation, execution, and management of vessel budgets, including maintenance, repair, and capital expenditure projects. Provide technical guidance and support to superintendents, engineers, and shore-based personnel, ensuring high standards of vessel maintenance and reliability. Monitor and evaluate vessel performance, including fuel consumption, emissions, and overall efficiency, and implement corrective actions as needed. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including IMO, USCG, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other relevant standards. Manage relationships with external vendors, shipyards, classification societies, flag states, and regulatory bodies to ensure timely and cost-effective service delivery. Conduct regular inspections and audits of vessels to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards. Collaborate with the HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) team to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the fleet. Develop and mentor the technical management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes, ensuring the tanker fleet remains competitive and compliant. Support emergency response activities, providing technical expertise during incidents or operational disruptions. Technical Director ( Tankers ) Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or equivalent 5 years in Maritime Engineering management Extensive experience in technical management of tankers or similar maritime vessels, including prior experience in a senior engineering role onshore Strong knowledge of international maritime regulations, including class, flag state, and environmental standards. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives LI-Onsite
