Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the VP of Business Operations, the Technical Writer is responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining technical documentation that may include Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Manuals, Technical Orders (TOs), Technical Manuals (TMs), User’s Manuals, and other related technical documents. The Technical Writer will have a strong understanding of technical systems and the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Job Responsibilities:
- Researches, documents and develops detailed O&M manuals, procedures, technical specifications, training materials, and other procedures and reports
- Authors and illustrates “how-to” operational and maintenance instructions for equipment including introductions, instructions, troubleshooting, commercial data, commissioning reports, warranty certificates and as-installed drawings
- Edits, standardizes, or revises materials prepared by other writers or personnel
- Incorporates feedback from technical staff and users to continually improve documentation quality
- Manages documentation projects, including planning, scheduling, and tracking progress to meet deadlines
- Translates complex technical information into clear and understandable language for non-technical audiences
- Researches and analyzes detailed technical processes and extracts technical information
- Translates technical processes and technical information for training packages in accordance with applicable directives and policies
- Ensures all technical documentation and training materials comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies
- Coordinates with engineers, customer representatives, subject matter experts, vendors, customers, and technical personnel
- Prepares training manuals, materials, and hard copy documents as needed for equipment operation and maintenance education
Job Requirements:
- Ability to interpret blueprints and detailed engineering specifications
- Strict adherence to using Quality Assurance Plans and Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- Clean driving record – as you may be required to drive a company vehicle on occasion
- Knowledge of Technical Documentation to include but not limited to Operator Manuals, and Installation Procedures
- Must demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to complete tasks without supervision
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Bluebeam or other advanced PDF software.
- A strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems and components, to include testing and troubleshooting is preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Must have, or have the ability to obtain a US Passport
