Seneca Technologies is seeking a Technical Writer in the Washington, DC metro region. The objective of this work is to support a large GenAI program for our IRS customer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
The Technical Writer research, writes, edits, and proofreads technical documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures, specifications, special reports, and any other customer deliverables and documents. Works with management, technical staff, authors, and subject matter experts (SME) to define documentation content, guidelines, specifications, and development schedules. Organizes, develops, drafts, revises, and edits detailed deliverables and documents for technical and non-technical audiences. Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style. Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations. Maintains records and files of work and revisions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Five (5) or more years of experience in technical writing.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of technical research, writing, and editing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly translate technical concepts into readable and usable language for a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated expertise in documentation software, desktop and electronic publishing, web design, computer graphics, flowcharting software, etc.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 with emphasis on Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience in development and maintenance of procedures and job aids.
- Experience in requirements gathering and interfacing with stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively with others in a team-oriented setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an IRS security clearance.
