Background: The Technical Writer will be responsible for analyzing, reviewing, and collecting information from internal teams, including the Cyber Security team, to develop clear and concise scope statements, requirements, and deliverables/milestones to include in outlined department documents. The role involves working onsite for 2 days and remotely for 3 days. 

Role: Office of Security Management Technical Writer

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Preparing templates for data/information collection.
  • Developing managed service documentation, data sheets, operating models, etc.
  • Collecting and compiling numerous levels and categories of business and functional requirements.
  • Performing research and analysis associated with the OSM’s need of services.
  • Producing branding recommendations for key documents and services.
  • Developing scope statements and requirements through the facilitation of DoIT OSM and other respective division related meetings.
  • Drafting clear and logical content for external communications.
  • Designing documents to present professionally and visually communicate key elements.
  • Understanding existing capabilities and needs within OSM with the ability to convey such understanding in writing.
  • Drafting solicitation documents using the State solicitation templates as needed.
  • Supporting development of any associated documents as related to the above subject area’s Life Cycle (SDLC) standards.

Specialized Experience:
  • At least two (2) years of experience in drafting IT and cyber security service documents and performing research and analysis in the subject area.
  • A clear understanding of solicitation formats, templates, and standard language.

Preferred Experience
  • At least seven years in compiling and reviewing scope statements and business/functional requirements, in particular the cybersecurity subject matter.
  • At least two years in the development of solicitation documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cybersecurity Framework and Security Assessments.
