Sr Maps UI/UX Designer
One of The Sage Group’s top clients is looking for a Sr Maps UI/UX Designer, strong with enterprise level apps. Application is a complex road map program that has continuous feature updates and requires someone technical to understand solve UI/UX problems accordingly. The client is a leading technology company specializing in Internet-related services and products that include online advertising technologies, search, cloud computing, and software.
Role:
- End-to-end scenarios created in Figma that describe the majority of a feature’s use cases
- Written feature documentation to communicate with Engineering
- Component updates in Figma that conform to client Material 3 standards
- Building a new geo map editor. This editor currently edits all aspects of the road network (roads, lanes, restrictions, speed limits, etc.) and will soon edit all other things like buildings, transit centers, geographic features, and business details.
Responsibilities:
- Designing features and components that contribute to editing the map elegantly and efficiently. Recent examples include a global address editor, route consistency visualizer, a highway sign editor, polygon tools, and quality control tools.
- Creating the cartography, design, interaction and features for (client product) Maps and the asset library.
- Creating Wireframes
- Creating a (client product) Maps asset library that Engineering can access
- End user will be internal operators trained by client to edit the map, Quality Controllers who vet the edits, and client engineers who troubleshoot the map
Skills Required:
- Technical understanding of engineering terms
- Figma expertise
- 5-8+ years UI/UX Design with complex enterprise apps, maps, graphs or dev tools
- Historical experience with many drawing / modeling tools (AutoCAD, Maya, 3Ds Max, SketchUP, Illustrator, Sketch, etc)
- Experience working on UI/UX design for digital maps a plus
- Ability to work through technical UX design challenges, as the backend was created in 2008, so coding experience would be a plus to understand the backend implications
Location: Onsite at one of these locations: San Jose CA, Austin TX, Bothel WA or Farmington Hills Michigan
Duration: 1 year to start, plus strong extension potential through 2028
Compensation: $80-91/hour DOE
