Your Role and Responsibilities
Join IBM's worldwide design organization for AI Applications, where our mission is to empower users to do their best work through intuitive and visually engaging interfaces. As a Designer, you'll play a crucial role in creating end-to-end customer experiences for integrating multiple FinOps applications and AI-enabled solutions that help businesses make informed, data-driven decisions.


Responsibilities:

  1. Translate Insights into Designs: Convert actionable insights from the design research team into low and high-fidelity mock-ups, patterns, prototypes, and development-ready specifications.
  2. Create Visual Assets: Develop high-fidelity mock-ups, graphics, design patterns, prototypes, and demos to enhance user interfaces.
  3. Pattern Collaboration: Participate in discussions regarding common patterns, assets, and efficiencies within the product space.
  4. Collaborative Development: Work closely with design team members and developers to build, update, and modernize software product user interfaces using agile methodologies.
  5. Scenario Design: Design business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demonstrations.
  6. Feedback Loop: Share work-in-progress designs and actively engage in giving and receiving constructive critique.
  7. Business Context: Understand business problems across our customer base to provide context for deliverables.
  8. Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders such as design researchers, content designers, developers, product owners, etc., across worldwide teams.
  9. Design Thinking Workshops: Plan, lead, and moderate virtual and in-person design thinking workshops.
  10. User Research: Plan, develop and conduct usability studies to validate design decisions.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. UI Problem Solving: Ability to solve complex user problems through user interface design, creating mock-ups, prototypes, and documenting interaction patterns.
  2. Design Tools Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
  3. Design Principles: Knowledge of design principles including typography, layout, imagery, color theory, and creating efficiencies in visual design workflows.
  4. Communication Skills: Proven communication skills and the ability to understand and address customer requirements effectively.
  5. Portfolio Presentation: Must have a portfolio showcasing previous design work.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  1. Design Trends Awareness: Understanding of modern design thinking and design trends, including responsiveness and accessibility for complex B2B applications.
  2. Attention to Detail: Appreciation for detail, ensuring every pixel and interaction is meticulously crafted.
  3. User Research and Testing: Exposure to user research, usability testing, and basic data analysis.
