Job Summary
Responsible for creating, developing, and maintaining dynamic programs to enhanced event presentation structure that contributes to a positive fan experience for all sports, with direct focus on event production for all sports. Creates and executes comprehensive marketing and promotional plans. Works closely with Owl Network, the KSU Sponsorship team, event management, facilities, and spirit groups to coordinate an optimal fan experience. Responsible for ensuring an excellent fan experience at all athletics events. Oversees the management of department event staff and student worker program.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Creates innovative ideas that engage existing and potential fans, resulting in an entertaining atmosphere
2. Leads and/or participates in strategic communication and email marketing efforts
3. Creates and/or directs content creation for a variety of marketing, sales, and fan experience items and programs
4. Actively engages with campus, community partners, and future partners to best promote KSU programs and associated opportunities
5. Assists with oversight and/or creation of digital, non-traditional, and traditional advertising
6. Researches and recommends new advertising avenues and opportunities to include out of the box, digital and traditional mediums
7. Plays an active role in the daily responsibilities and tasks associated with the activation of designated third-party agreements with interaction related to marketing, fan experience, and sales
8. Performs and evaluates best practices related to spending and cost savings of the marketing budget
9. Oversees, develops, and executes strategic marketing plans for assigned ticketed sport(s) that engages and grows the fan base (students, staff, alumni, community, fans, etc.) in order to positively impacts ticket sales, attendance, and revenue generation
10. Provides input and recommendations in the management of a music library for each assigned sport while keeping a detailed list of inventories, to include the securing, updating, and editing of music as needed per sport
11. Oversees the hiring, scheduling, management, and training of announcers, electronically generated music staff for assigned sports and/or events, and student worker programs
12. Serves as a liaison to the Marching Band, Pep Band, Spirit Teams, Emcee, and DJs (when applicable) for event presentation scripting and planning of assigned sports
13. Provides input, development, and execution of marketing and event plans for department-wide marketing initiatives (i.e., Pink Initiatives, Military Appreciation, Academic Achievement, and Faculty and Staff Appreciation days)
14. Ensures that the plans and/or programs (i.e., marketing, event production, and logistical needs) for the causes and/or events is coordinated effectively with all parties to ensure consistency in planning
15. Assists leadership with managing the departments budget, coordinating contracts, and invoices with proper athletics and university contacts
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
Required Experience
Two (2) years of experience in marketing, promotions, sales, fan engagement, event planning, or tickets sales in collegiate, professional or minor league field.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Experience with Paciolan Ticket software
Experience with Email Marketing software
Division I intercollegiate marketing or sales experience with a professional sport organization
Demonstrated experience working with a multimedia rights holder
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one-time meeting assigned deadlines
KNOWLEDGE
Live-event production experience
Digitally savvy with graphic design and digital marketing experience
SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Creative thinker and problem solver
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
