Job Description
Primary Role
The Lead Installer is responsible for the installation of advanced sound, video, and lighting (AVL) systems. This includes cabling, equipment setup, and electronic infrastructure. The role demands interpreting design intent and ensuring systems are installed with maximum efficiency and effectiveness. All work must meet MediaMerge's high standards of quality while maintaining a safe and professional environment.
Regular Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (with overtime as required).
Compensation: Includes 15–25% paid overtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform equipment installation both on-site and during shop build.
- Ensure all installations meet project deadlines and design intent.
- Review design documents with the Project Manager before starting installations.
- Submit daily project field reports via Wrike.
- Update design drawings with as-built modifications.
- Attend staff training sessions and stay up to date with new technologies and methods.
- Handle cable pulling, termination, and hardware wiring.
- Mount equipment such as projectors, screens, loudspeakers, and lighting instruments.
- Operate and test equipment to verify proper functionality.
- Accurately track time sheets, expense reports, service/installation tickets, and inventory.
- Use power tools safely and effectively during installations.
- Work at heights of up to 60’ on scaffolds, ladders, and lifts.
- Lift and handle loads of up to 75 lbs.
- Program equipment and install software on relevant devices.
- Assist the Site Superintendent in developing project processes and workflows.
- Comply with all company and customer safety programs.
- Represent MediaMerge on-site as an ambassador of professionalism and excellence.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards, fostering a positive work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned by company management.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in systems integration, live production, or a related field.
- In-depth working knowledge of audio, video, and lighting systems is essential.
Certifications:
- Completion of a planned training program is required.
- CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) certification and OSHA Safety certification are mandatory for Lead Installer (Level 3) status.
Travel Requirements
- Expect 50%+ travel across the Southeast for out-of-town projects, typically lasting 1–2 weeks.
- Occasional travel for training or industry events may also be required.
Additional Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, and personable, with the ability to lead teams effectively.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in live presentation systems operation.
- Competent with software tools such as Google Docs, Sheets, and Gmail.
- Ability to plan, organize, and execute tasks to meet deadlines.
- Experience reading and interpreting business documentation and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Visio is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Must pass a drug test.
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working at heights up to 60 feet.
- Ability to lift and handle loads up to 75 lbs.
- Proficiency in operating power tools safely and effectively.
