Job Description
Payrate: $25.00 - 30.00/hr plus. + plus $10.00/hr per diem
Schedule: 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday
MUST PASS A 90 DAY DRUG TEST AND A 10 YEAR BACKGROUND CHECK.
Position Summary:
A liquid penetrant/magnetic particle/visual testing inspector is responsible for conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections on various components and materials. They interpret test results, evaluate material properties, and prepare inspection reports. The job scope includes performing NDT inspections, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and collaborating with team members for quality assurance
Qualifications:
- PT(II), VT (II) All inspectors shall have documented qualification/certification to the Level II requirements for ASNT's SNT-TC-1A, 2001 Edition or later.
- Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb vertical ladders, not afraid of heights
- Crawling in tanks and confined spaces,
- Candidates will be tested. There will be a practical examination to prove proficiency in each NDT inspection method.
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess the ability to inspect confined spaces, stooping, bending, crawling, and climb when required. Demonstrated basic computer skills are required. Ability to read a blueprint.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write simple correspondence
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure using the metric system
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems that may arise in certain situations
SAFETY:
Must comply with company, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks.
Required Safety Training / Qualifications:
- Confined Space Entry trained in accordance with OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1915, Subpart B.
- Hazard Communication trained in accordance with OSHA Standard 29CFR 1915.1200 (1910.1200) (h) - (1) through (3) (iv).
- Respirator trained and qualified. A Respirator Medical Clearance Examination as required by a Physician. The Respirator Training and Fit Testing will meet the requirements of Standard 29CFR1910.134 and each individual shall be trained in half-face and full-face negative-pressure respirators, MSA COMFO CLASSIC and MSA Ultra-Twin (with MSA approved vapors and dust filter cartridges to be provided for them respirators by the LLPC). Newport News requires the use of a MSA COMFO CLASSIC (approximate weight 12 oz.) and MSA Ultra-Twin (approximate weight 1.5 lbs.) negative-pressure respirators only. Daily use of respirator may occur.
- Fall Protection/4-D Body Harness-Vertical & Horizontal Lifelines-Beam Clamp trained and qualified in accordance with the following OSHA Regulations; 29CFR1915.159, 29CFR1915.71 (j) (3), 29CFR1915.73 (d), and 29CFR1915.77 (c).
- Body Harness and Vertical & Horizontal Lifelines and Beam Clamps Systems shall comply with the requirements of ANSI Z359.1. NNS may require 60' Self Retracting Lifelines that are Leading Edge compliant and a Quick Grab. This rope grab must fit 5/16" carbon steel wire rope.
