WHY WE NEED YOU:
The Web Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality web applications and interfaces using Drupal and other associated technologies. This role collaborates with various stakeholders to support web development projects, ensure code quality and standards, and align web applications with the Museum's overall digital platform and technology strategy. This role also performs routine maintenance of Drupal websites and the environment, liaises with web hosting providers, and integrates websites with CRM systems and other backend data sources. Additionally, the developer stays up to date on emerging web technologies and best practices to continuously improve the Museum's websites.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Serves as a primary technical lead for the development, configuration, customization, and support of the Museum's Drupal websites, creating solutions that meet business requirements, and are optimized for performance and scalability. This includes designing and developing code, integrating with databases and third-party applications, and maintaining code quality and standards.
- Collaborates with project stakeholders, including designers, content creators, and other developers, to support web development projects through all phases, including planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch maintenance. Manages project deliverables through agile methodologies such as sprints, stand-up meetings, and retrospectives. Conducts thorough testing to ensure high-quality code and functionality and addresses issues and bugs promptly and efficiently.
- Collaborates with the Digital Platforms Manager and other developers to ensure that all web applications and interfaces align with the Museum's overall digital platform and technology strategy and architecture. Ensures the integrity and security of the codebase through version control and adherence to best practices for code management.
- Performs routine maintenance of Drupal websites and environment, including monitoring for and addressing security vulnerabilities, maintaining up-to-date software versions and patches, and ensuring optimal performance and uptime through regular optimization and tuning.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison with web hosting provider to ensure site uptime, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. This includes coordinating the resolution of hosting-related issues, implementing performance optimizations, and working with the provider to manage server infrastructure updates and maintenance. Ensures that hosting configurations and policies align with Museum needs and best practices.
- Collaborates with the CRM Systems Developer and other Museum stakeholders to integrate the Museum's website with CRM systems and other backend data sources, leveraging web services, REST APIs, and other data exchange methods. Collaborates with external web development teams when necessary to ensure successful completion of web development projects and seamless integration with existing web systems.
- Maintains a deep understanding of the Drupal content management system and its associated technologies and capabilities, and leverages this expertise to guide and advise on site design and development to meet the Museum's needs best. Continually reviews emerging web technologies, trends, and best practices and leverages them to improve and evolve the Museum's websites.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree.
Experience: 3 or more years of Drupal development experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated experience in Drupal development, including experience with Drupal 8+, PHP, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS.
- Demonstrated experience with Drupal architecture, including themes, modules, and hooks
- Demonstrated experience integrating Drupal with other platforms using web services, REST APIs, and other data exchange methods.
- Knowledge of web development best practices, including responsive design, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility
- Understanding of agile methodologies and experience working in a team environment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday-Friday (40 hours per week)
Fully Remote ( Must reside in MA, RI, or NH)
