Scientific Clinical WriterHours: 8:00am - 5:00pmSalary: $38.00 - 45.00/hrLocation: Akron, OHThe majority of work can be performed remotely but will need to be available to report to the office when required. The Clinical Scientific Writer (CSW) will be integral to advancing the research agenda within the Research Institute, focusing on Health Services Research with an emphasis on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult populations. The role involves, in concert with clinical investigators and trainees, conducting initial literature reviews, drafting study protocols, and preparing abstracts and manuscripts for dissemination. The CSW will collaborate with Principal Investigators, Co-Investigators, and other team members to refine these documents.Key Responsibilities:Literature Review and Documentation:Assist early career scientists with conducting comprehensive literature reviews before developing research proposals and study protocols, with a focus on pediatric, adolescent, and young adult health services.Assist early career scientists develop specific aims and draft and develop study protocols, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.Assist early career scientists in preparing and refining abstracts and manuscripts for publication in scientific journals and presentations at conferences.Revision and Collaboration:Work closely with the PI, Co-I, and research team members to revise study documents, incorporating feedback to ensure precision and scientific rigor.Collaborate in the preparation of grant applications and other related documentation.Educational Responsibilities:Lead monthly and quarterly educational sessions and workshops, providing training on contemporary medical writing techniques and best practices.Develop educational materials and resources to enhance the medical writing skills of residents, fellows, and medical staff.Maintain educational services for skills in scientific writing including but not limited to EndNote, proper use of AI editorial resources, word processing and other editing softwareScholarly Engagement:Participate in and occasionally lead Journal Clubs, facilitating discussions on recent research literature and its implications for practice.Contribute to Morbidity and Mortality sessions, providing insights into clinical case discussions and outcomes.Participate in Scientific Oversight Reviews, ensuring alignment of research projects with institutional goals and ethical standards.Institutional Board Preparation and Scientific Meetings:Assist in preparing research team members for institutional review board reviews, ensuring all necessary documents and presentations are meticulously prepared.Support the preparation for scientific meetings, including developing abstracts, presentations, and posters.Key Requirements:Technical Expertise:Demonstrated experience in medical writing with a strong portfolio of published work, particularly in health services research.Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail.Knowledge of scientific research methodologies and regulatory requirements.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.Proficiency in medical and scientific terminology and writing standards.Experience in educational roles, especially in training medical professionals, is highly desirable.Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant field such as Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Public Health, or a related area.Candidates must consent to a pre-employment background check and drug screen, and must be able to provide two professional job references.Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $38.00 - $45.00
