Role Title: Software Technical Writer (Security)

Location: Remote, US

Duration: 12+ months contract


THE ROLE:
The Client's Product Security Office (PSO) is looking for an experienced technical writer to own technical documentation related to product security features for internal and public use for multiple products segments.

You will be working closely with developers, designers, architects, program/project managers, and product managers to plan, develop, review and publish documents covering Security software and features. The documentation scope can span from technical specifications, test guidance documents, security white papers, security notices, training manuals and presentations, technical marketing documents, release notes, etc., intended for technical and engineering-based audiences.

Documentation development involves interviewing subject matter experts, analyzing technical documents from multiple records systems, and product /feature requirements documents. Familiarity with Software Security concepts and experience documenting security features and applications is highly desired.

THE PERSON:
To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about technology and producing high quality documents to be consumed by different groups of readers with different levels of knowledge in cybersecurity. You must have robust experience and an established track record of writing technical documents.

You are highly organized, able to prioritize and handle multiple work assignments to tight deadlines. You have excellent communication skills to establish an effective working relation with the key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Author technical documentation for Product Security Office team.
Develop Test Guidance documents, Reference Guides, Whitepapers, Security Advisories or Security Notices, Internal/External training manuals and presentations, Technical marketing content and release notes for Product Security Office team.
Develop, review and publish product security related documentation.
Rephrase and restructure highly technical information.
Maintain partner-specific repositories to deliver updated documentation.
Utilize, update and implement Content Standards and Templates to ensure consistency in documentation.
Develop, prioritize, and execute customer-focused, data-informed content plans using JIRA in an Agile environment.
Utilize data points to report risk, work prioritization, and delivery.
Work with Stakeholders, Support, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Engineering teams to understand customer goals and deliver quality documentation.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
At least five years of Technical Writing experience in a technical field (Engineering or Computer Science background is not required, but prior experience documenting product security technologies is strongly desired).
Experience authoring using MS Office editors
Proficient creating and maintaining Sharepoint pages
Experience working with version control systems - JIRA, Confluence, JAMA
Familiar with authoring using Visual Studio Code and Markdown Editors
Familiarity with cybersecurity Documentation
Excellent writing, copyediting, and communication skills.
Ability to deliver quick results without compromising quality.
Ability to multitask on different projects and quickly adapt to evolving schedules.
Experience with Markdown, XML, HTML, and other scripting languages
Experience with Adobe Premiere, Camtasia and Adobe Photoshop a plus

EXPERIENCE AND EDUATION:

Bachelors degree with 4+ years of experience, or Masters with 2+ years of experience as a technical writer;

Experience writing structured documentation;

Experience using oXygen, XMetal, Quark, XMLMind or another XML editor, preferred;

Ability to work with scripting languages such as Python or Perl, preferred;

Excellent writing, editing and organizational skills;

Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Word, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Adobe Illustrator;

Experience with Perforce and Doxygen, preferred;

Good understanding of engineering terminology used within the semiconductor industry;

Good understanding of x86-based computer systems and components;

Proven interpersonal skills, leadership and teamwork, required.
