Position Overview:
Indagare is seeking a creative, dynamic, and inventive Producer to join our Indagare Productions team. As a Producer, you will be responsible for pitching, developing and producing a range of content across different formats, including short-form, mid-form and potentially long-form media projects. The ideal candidate is a versatile storyteller with a passion for travel, capable of managing content across digital and social platforms while working closely with a creative team to bring ideas to life.
The ideal candidate is up-to-date on the latest trends, news, and developments in the travel industry and has a keen eye for identifying the most compelling stories from a large volume of information. You excel at research and distilling information and pulling trends to create the most impactful and timely video content.
This role requires a deep understanding of storytelling techniques in visual media, as well as excellent planning skills and the ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. This candidate must be collaborative, proactive and organized with strong writing skills and sound editorial judgment. While editing is not a core responsibility of this role, proficiency in video editing is a strong bonus. You may occasionally be called upon to assist with or handle editing tasks, especially for quick turnarounds or smaller projects.
This role involves pre-production in addition to post; it will also likely involve international and domestic travel on video shoots. An understanding of the travel industry is a plus and a proven track record in field production is essential. This role will likely grow into leading and managing a team of direct reports, providing guidance, support, and feedback to ensure the team meets its creative and production goals. The Producer reports to the Indagare Productions Senior Director & Executive Producer.
This role is remote but preferably based in the greater New York City region to manage occasional NYC-based shoots and assist with shoot-related tasks. The salary range for this position is $89-95K/yr.
What You'll Do:
- Manage a small team of junior and mid-level production staff and provide leadership and guidance to Indagare Production staff and freelancers.
- Conceptualize, develop, research and pitch timely, engaging story ideas; identify emerging travel trends to create relevant and timely content for different formats.
- Produce content across multiple formats, including short-form (social media, YouTube), mid-form (5-15 minute travel features), and potential long-form (documentary-style content).
- Manage all stages of production, including pre-production (story research, pitching, logistics and shoot set-up, pre-interviews), production (virtual, on-site or remote shoots), and post-production (scripting, media management and editing).
- Prepare shoot outlines, run of shows and asset packets
- Create and manage production schedules, timelines, and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously. Keep all budget sheets up-to-date and other relevant trackers.
- Hire and manage production crews
- Oversee logistics for domestic and international shoots, ensuring efficient travel arrangements, permits, and equipment are in place.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during production to keep projects on track.
- Ensure all content is on-brand, visually compelling, and tailored to the target audience for each platform.
- Develop content calendars and collaborate with internal teams (editorial, marketing, social media) and, as relevant, external partners to develop content strategies that align with the company's brand, marketing objectives and goals ensuring cohesive storytelling across all platforms.
- Collaborate with external partners, including hotels, tourism boards, and influencers, to create co-branded or sponsored content.
- Work closely with the Indagare Video Editor and external video editors/Production Houses on all aspects of the edit cycle, including shot selection, music selection, storytelling, sound mixing, color correction and text/graphics.
- Edit videos, particularly short-form, as required.
- Oversee the edit process to ensure final content is polished, on-brand, and meets project objectives. Provide feedback and revisions (plus the feedback and revisions of all key stakeholders) to editors clearly and concisely and in timely fashion to ensure: 1) the final product reflects the intended story and vision, 2) all content meets high standards of accuracy, quality, and brand voice; 3) the product created is engaging and cohesive
- Prepare final cuts to be viewed and signed off on by EP always delivering the highest quality content within deadlines
- Communicate and collaborate with all Indagare team members of relevance on a given project and communicate status updates frequently to EP; Effectively manage multiple aspects of story production concurrently.
- Analyze the performance of produced content using metrics and viewer engagement data to inform future content decisions.
- Adapt strategies based on feedback, trends, and platform algorithm changes to continuously improve content reach and impact.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in production with work in the field; experience in travel production is a plus
- Proven track record of effectively leading a team to meet its creative goals and project deliverables
- Proven experience in storytelling, content creation, journalism, with a focus on travel
- Understanding of visual storytelling and cinematography and experience with multimedia content creation
- Passion for storytelling and a creative mindset
- Adaptability to evolving project requirements
- Patience and flexibility
- Knowledge of different genres and storytelling formats and principles and narrative structure
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and their role in content distribution
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through
- Ability to edit using the latest software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Ability to provide constructive and detailed feedback
- Ability to adjust to changing priorities and handle multiple assignments at once in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
