With two major professional teams, Orlando City and Orlando Pride, the Orlando City Soccer Club (OCSC) has established itself as one of the preeminent Clubs in professional soccer.

Orlando City joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the league's 21st franchise in November 2013, becoming the first MLS team in the Southeast. The Lions began league play in March 2015. In 2019, Orlando City re-launched Orlando City B (OCB) to bridge the gap between its successful youth development academy and the First Team.

The Orlando Pride, OCSC's National Women's Soccer League franchise, began play in 2016 - bringing professional women's soccer to Orlando for the first time.

Orlando City and Orlando Pride play at Inter & CO Stadium, a 25,500-seat soccer-specific stadium built in 2017 and located in the heart of Downtown Orlando.

POSITION SUMMARY

You will have the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and vision of Orlando City SC/Orlando Pride, understanding the importance of how a professional sports organization works (which could include sales, marketing, public relations, operations, or the internal working of the Club), to further develop general critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, communication, and writing skills.

Orlando City SC and Orlando Pride are seeking a hardworking, positive and passionate individual who wish to supplement their classroom instruction and/or previous experience with practical experience facilitating responsibilities across front office communications for all three of the organization's teams, Orlando City SC (MLS), Orlando Pride (NWSL) and Orlando City B (MLS NEXT Pro) as well as other events at Inter & Co Stadium.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Create written content, such as press releases, match recaps, media advisories, game notes and articles for Club's website (Opportunity for published byline). Assist with leading for game day media operations, including press box management, media credentialing and press conferences. Create a positive and welcoming match day experience for onsite media. Collaborate with players, staff, and front office executives to execute interviews and appearances. Support Club press officers with training cover, interview requests and appearances. Assist with regular updates of all team Press Kits, including statistics and other historical record keeping. Archive and track ongoing media coverage by putting together media clips packs. Collaborate with other departments as needed. Provide advice and ideas on expanding media coverage of all teams. Other duties as assigned. Opportunity to assist department in non-match day Communications events and additional venue events, as needed. QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of eligibility requirements, knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary:

Available to commit to the entirety of the MLS, NWSL, and MLS NEXT Pro seasons (Approx. Feb.-Nov.) Prior internship/professional experience in a sports communications or related field. Knowledge of soccer (including MLS and NWSL) is critical. Experience working on several work-intensive projects simultaneously, ability to meet and perform under tight deadlines and think clearly under pressure. Strong written and verbal skills. Knowledge of AP Style is a must. Exceptional reliability, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills required. An Innovative Individual who can come up with ideas and work extremely well within a team to come up with creative solutions and identify new opportunities, often in a high-pressure, fast-changing environment. Strong attention to small details is a must. Able to work non-traditional hours, in non-traditional settings, within a team atmosphere. This role will be working around 30 hours weekly. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
