Job Summary:
The Controller will oversee the financial, HR, and IT functions of our company, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across departments. The Controller will directly manage two team members and collaborate with other departments to support their financial and IT needs.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analyze results for management and stakeholder reporting.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions, reconciliations, and adjustments.
Prepare and manage annual budgets.
Assist outside audit firm with year-end financial audit.
Develop, implement and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
Preparation and filling of multiple state Sales Tax returns.
Liaise with CPA firm to execute the preparation of Federal and State Income Tax returns.
Supervise accounts payable processes, vendor payments, and maintain positive vendor relationships. Issue year-end 1099's as needed.
Oversee the credit approval process and manage customer credit limits and collections.
Implement and monitor credit policies to minimize risk and maintain cash flow stability.
Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations.
Manage employee benefits administration, onboarding, and HR documentation.
Support recruiting efforts and performance management processes as needed.
Maintain the integrity of financial and HR systems, identifying and implementing software improvements where necessary.
Act as a liaison with IT vendors to resolve issues and manage system updates.
Ensure security and compliance within the company's IT infrastructure.
Establish, review, and improve internal controls to enhance efficiency and mitigate risks.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for accounting, HR, and IT functions.
Support other departments by providing data-driven insights and financial forecasts.
Directly supervise and mentor two team members, fostering growth and maintaining high-performance standards.
Build a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and support strategic financial decision-making.
Maintain open and transparent communication with parent company management.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
3-5+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, ideally in a small to mid-sized company.
Familiarity with HR and IT systems and practices; experience with accounting and ERP software preferred.
