Key Responsibilities as a Staff Accountant:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Account Reconciliation:
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Variance Analysis:
Perform actual-to-budget variance analysis, collaborating with various departments to address discrepancies.
Audit Support:
Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all accounting practices comply with industry regulations and standards, including FERC reporting requirements.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
Special Projects:
Participate in special projects, ad hoc reporting, and other initiatives as directed by management.
Qualifications to Excel as a Staff Accountant:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2-4 years of accounting experience, ideally within the energy industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
