Communications Specialist Role
Job Description:
Engagement with Johnson Controls to provide M&A communications and assist IT and other divestiture activities in support of the IT Separation Management Office (SMO). This role will be responsible for creating effective communications to support divestitures across the business.
This role will support IT as well as other functions and will be instrumental in supporting the creation and execution of a suite of communications related to M&A activity.
Broad knowledge of effective communications channel strategy and measurement coupled with a strong writing ability will be assisted by a curiosity to learn the operational practices of a global industrial business and reach employees all the way to manufacturing plant floors.
The individual in this role must be a skilled communicator since the role interacts with all levels inside and outside the organization. A good understanding of priorities and professional handling of temporary stress without losing sight of the mission objective is required and expected.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support functional leaders by developing an understanding of business needs to create key messages and communicate them in a simple, engaging and informative way.
  • Develop communications plans including deliverables that drive expectations of impact business. May include support of employee engagement and change management.
  • Work closely with Global Communications to develop best practices and promote communications consistency.
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders on new communications ideas while providing updates on all phases of a campaign's lifecycle.
  • Create engaging, creative and targeted employee communications.
  • Drive consistency in communications processes, including measuring effectiveness.
  • Research, write and edit a variety of internal publications in several formats.
  • Provide communications support for large-scale events including live broadcasts.
  • Report on progress of communication plan develop, deliverables and results.

Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of business communications experience
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to gather complex concepts and information, translate it quickly into engaging content and share it clearly to multiple audiences
  • Must possess the confidence and maturity to interact with all levels of the organization with the ability to maintain confidential or sensitive information, as well as influence with and without authority
  • Ability to tailor messages to various employee audiences using appropriate tone, nuance and level of information; superior command of English grammar and usage
  • Ability to quickly gather and synthesize information from a variety of sources; aptitude for translating complex topics and issues into broadly understandable messages to employees
  • Able to think strategically across the enterprise while digging into tactical needs

  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent project management skills and ability to multitask
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Teams preferred
Assumptions:
  • Resource will report to IT Deal Lead and work closely with IT SMO team and Global Communications
  • Resources will work the entire duration remotely
  • Any travel and travel-related expenses should be in accordance with Johnson Controls expense and travel policy and must be pre-approved
  • Any overtime rate not to exceed maximum rate listed and requires pre-approval by Johnson Controls.
