Primary Function:
We are seeking a Senior Communications Planner with a strong advertising agency or in-house agency background and a proven ability to lead complex communication plans, engage teams, and drive results independently. The communication planner will translate the vision of existing creative briefs into actionable plans, expertly mapping how the brand's story unfolds across channels, ensuring that every message reaches the consumer critical moments in their decision-making process. This role will collaborate with the brand planner, respecting the overarching brand strategy, creative team, respecting campaign ideas and their potential, while owning the detailed execution of multichannel communication plans. As someone who thrives on blending creativity with data, this communications planner will also collaborate with brand and media partners to ensure campaigns drive measurable results. This role requires the ability to use data to craft communication plans that guide consumers from awareness to conversion. Must have experience converting marketing strategy, business and channel goals into communication channel ecosystems for 360 advertising campaigns (including digital, paid social, owned social, national TV, email, direct mail, etc.), while guiding and maintaining the existing brand standards/guidelines.
Who You Are:
- Consumer Journey Centric: While you understand the broader brand strategy, your strength lies in the details - defining how and where the brand's message gets delivered. You have a keen understanding of how consumers move through the buying funnel - from awareness and consideration to conversion and loyalty - and are skilled at aligning communication strategies with each phase of the journey.
- Tactical Problem-Solver: You're skilled at taking a creative brief and breaking it down into tactical elements that work across various channels, guiding the audience through their journey with the brand. You focus on delivering the right message at the right time and through the most effective platform.
- Cross Channel Expert: You know how to optimize the use of different channels - whether digital, social, print, or broadcast - based on where the consumer is in their journey. You create communications plans that maximize impact across touchpoints.
- Data Driven Connector: You thrive on consumer data, insights, and platform dynamics, using it to inform decisions on messaging, timing, and channel selection within existing media buys. You ensure that every communication plan is rooted in a clear understanding of audience behavior and platform dynamics.
- Results-Oriented Executor: Your focus is on delivering tangible outcomes. Whether its driving engagement, brand recall, or conversions, you make sure the tactical execution of campaigns is aligned with measurable objectives
- Consumer Journey Mapping and Cohesive Communication Plans: Develop comprehensive, actionable, multi-channel communication plans that align with each stage of the consumer journey - from awareness and consideration to purchase and loyalty. You'll ensure the right messaging is tailored for each touchpoint and moment in the consumer lifecycle.
- Audience-Centric Messaging: Use data insights to develop and refine messaging that speaks to specific audience segments, ensuring the brand connects with consumers at the most relevant touchpoints. Tailor messaging based on where the audience is in their decision-making process.
- Collaboration with Account Planning, Creative, and Media: Work closely with brand planners to ensure the communication execution remains true to the broader creative strategy and brand vision.
Collaborate with creative teams to identify channel message optimizations based on creative ideas while staying true to consumer journey insights. Work closely with media partners to ensure that messaging is delivered at the right time, through the right platform, and with the most impact. - Measurement and Reporting: Track campaign performance across each stage of the consumer journey. Provide clear insights and recommendations for optimizing future communications, focusing on how messaging influences consumer behavior at key touchpoints.
- Bachelor's Degree required, specifically in advertising, communications, or marketing
- 5-10 years of related communications planning or account planning experience required, with deep understanding of the consumer journey and a solid track record developing and leading cross-channel communication strategies
- Proven ability to translate high-level creative strategy into detailed, actionable communication plans that align with various stages of the consumer lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of audience segmentation, consumer behavior, and journey mapping
- Excellent collaboration skills working closely with brand planners, creative teams, and media teams to deliver cohesive campaigns.
- Data driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns and touchpoints simultaneously.
- An expert in audience segmentation, consumer behavior analysis, and data driven strategy development
