We are looking for a Technical Content Developer to create and update Search Engine API Documentation. This writer will need to create clear, accurate API technical documentation that guides customers through all aspects of a complex system, following content standards and the Writing Style Guide. The writer should be technical and able to deeply understand and use the technology to create accurate developer-focused documentation. This person will need to work collaboratively with product managers and software engineers to gather technical information in an ambiguous environment and ensure accuracy. This writer should have excellent written and verbal communication skills; and the ability to communicate effectively in a professional voice that is tuned to different audiences. They should have strong problem-solving and project management skills and be able to work and manage project backlog independently. Responsibilities What will you do: In this role, you will work with product PMs, customers, engineers, support, and technical account managers to create compelling documentation for search engine APIs. Primary roles and responsibilities of this position include: Design: Author and publish technical API documentation for developers and partners. Publish: Create various versions of documentation to meet differing partner needs. Publish: Use GitHub as the content management system. Publish: Manage SharePoint or other MSFT Tools content and/or Wikis. Triage: Work through a backlog of documentation items in ADO. Plan: Develop, prioritize, and execute customer-focused, data-informed content plans using an agile methodology. Create: Author and publish high-impact content addressing the needs of the data and developer audience. Collaborate: Work with business stakeholders, support, marketing, and customers to understand customer goals and what they need to succeed. Pacific time-zone hours primarily. Administer: Maintain GitHub repositories and assist contributors with their pull requests. Administer: Maintain partner-specific SharePoint repositories or other MSFT Tools content and/or Wikis to provide partners with the most up-to-date information. Analyze: Use data to report on your impact, prioritize your work, and adjust to future plans. Design: Use content standards and templates to ensure consistency in the documentation. Code: Write and manipulate command line examples, code samples and snippets to support documentation. (JSON, PowerShell, .Net, Python, REST, ARM, etc.) Maintain: Azure DevOps Work items and backlog. Maintain: Consistency within and across documentation as products evolve. Qualifications Required: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail. 2-3+ years of proven project management, organization, and planning skills. Experience in content strategy and information architecture. Experience designing and developing developer-oriented technical content. Experience writing for a highly technical audience: IT pro, developer, DevOps. Experience working in an agile development environment. Experience using an API and then reviewing request/responses and sample code to create technical documentation for developers; and in some cases, finding bugs and issues as you “test” your content. Experience working in GitHub and markdown for MS docs. Experience working in SharePoint. It would be great to have: Experience with Search Engines, Search methodologies, AI. Understanding of Data (Data Structures, Data trends, content analysis) and fluency using Excel and other data reporting tools such as Power BI. The target hiring compensation range for this role is $46.14 to $51.27 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
