As the Engineering Manager of the Content Ingestion team at Nextdoor, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring a seamless, efficient, and high-quality experience as content flows into our platform. You will lead a talented team of engineers to architect, develop, and maintain complex data ingestion and processing pipelines that support our community-driven approach. This role is crucial, as the quality and reliability of content ingestion directly impact the user experience on our platform.
Content Ingestion is a new engineering team we are building and we are looking for a tech lead for it. The team will grow to ~8 engineers. We expect the tech lead for this new team to start focusing on hiring + actively supporting implementation. As you are successful with hiring, your focus will shift more to people management while continuing to make technical contributions. The organization that Content Ingestion sits in is a widely remote organization with main hubs in San Francisco and New York. The preferred location for this candidate is in San Francisco but we are open to outstanding candidates in New York or looking to relocate.

Your responsibilities will include:
Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.
The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $220,000 to $285,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.
We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.

The Impact You'll Make
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and manage a team of engineers
- Work with Feed and other Nextdoor other tech leads to architect the content ingestion systems
- You'll partner closely with Feed ML & Infra leaders to deliver a tightly integrated content ingestion to Feed consumption experience
- Make significant technical contributions to the implementation of the ingestion system
- Architect and oversee the development of scalable and reliable feed infrastructure that supports seamless interactions for millions of users
- You'll be involved in all aspects of the product development for a major product area; from strategy, research, prototyping, concept to interaction design, to final QA and code tweaks right before launch
- You'll participate in cross-functional brainstorms, discussions, design reviews and interesting and inspiring design team activities
- Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
- Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values
- Participate in hiring outstanding talent and develop the engineering resources in the organization
- You'll own and drive operational metrics of Content Ingestion
- 1+ years of people management and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
- Track record of hiring, building and developing high performance engineers
- Experience in content ingestion and/or user-generated content product development
- Bring a deep empathy for customer needs and insights as well as an intuitive grasp of the business problems we're trying to solve
- Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, concept work, up to the delivery of the consumption experience
- Track record of engineering excellence and operations (monitoring, alarming, sev, post-mortem, etc) for your team
- Experience with Content Ingestion products is a big plus
