Job Summary

The Health Care Content Strategist is responsible for building and maintaining a deep understanding of Memorial Hermann's needs in the current and future educational landscape in order to add meaningful value to the end-to-end learning content offered to patients at each touchpoint of the health care experience. The individual in this role maintains a high level of familiarity with patient journeys and assists in the identification of gaps in learning content. This individual will collaborate with the Consumer Experience Learning and Engagement team and the Consumer Experience team at large in addition to other stakeholders in order to identify the right-size resources and approaches needed to close those gaps. Primarily Remote work but will need to be onsite for research assignments, observations/interviews, workshops, etc (Must reside in the Houston area as you will need to be onsite for different assignments)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field is required.

Licenses/Certifications: (None)

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Five (5) years of content strategist, editor or equivalent with a focus on health and wellness topics required.
  • Agency (marketing, PR, advertising) or editorial experience a plus.
  • Working knowledge of human-centered design and journey mapping.
  • Comfortable with online publishing/content platforms (CRM).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; demonstrable ability to create engaging stories from existing data.
  • Excellent presentation skills and the ability to design and facilitate problem-solving sessions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Works closely with Analytics team to determine areas of highest business need and impact.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Oversees and coordinates the Consumer Experience Learning team content calendar; works with the Director to assess needs and assign resources.
  • Works directly with team members, clinicians, educators, and other stakeholders as required in assessing and delivering on content needs, developing effective and strategic end-to-end solutions that meet clinical and consumer needs.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders on periodic content audits; assesses content strategy for strengths/weaknesses in an ongoing fashion.
  • Maintains working knowledge of competitive landscape in the area of educational materials and advancements.
  • Engages clinicians, administrators, C-suite, and patients in the collection of pertinent information needed to create engaging consumer-facing materials.
  • Writes, reviews, and edits content, ensuring precision, coherence, and appeal to target health care consumer.
  • Implements modern qualitative research techniques in developing the leading-edge approaches to consumer engagement needs.
  • Drives quality in the delivery of large-scale content projects, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
  • Serves as coach, mentor and editor to content design team members as needed.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
