Requirements / Qualifications

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, candidate will provide instructional assistance to individuals or groups of students in a maker space or design lab learning environment; operate, adjust and maintain a variety of hi-tech equipment related to maker space and design labs; respond to questions, train and assist students and staff as needed with programs and equipment.

Candidate must have knowledge of design and/or engineering practices in relation to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math; modern technological equipment, including robotics, electronics, video creating, 3-D design/printing, and other tools to assist in design processes; operation, adjustment and minor maintenance of computers and peripheral equipment; computers and computer use in an instructional environment. Candidate must have knowledge of child guidance principles and practices. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are required. Good interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy are essential.

Qualifications: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year experience working with school-age children in an organized setting and some experience in maker space or design lab operation. Candidate must have the ability to learn on the job, provide instructional assistance to students in a variety of subject areas and activities focused on design and prototyping; demonstrate a patient, understanding and receptive attitude toward students, including those with special needs and/or disruptive behaviors. Candidate must have the ability to type at an acceptable rate of speed, and perform a variety of clerical duties including maintaining records.
