We are presently searching for a Designer for our NorCal studio. The Designer, working under the general supervision of a Senior Designer or Project Manager, provides design support primarily in project administration, presentations, concept design through design development, and contract documents.
Specific responsibilities will include:
Works with the team to develop architectural concepts for interior and exterior repositioning and/or adaptive projects
Works with the team to develop design ideas and create both presentation and construction drawings
Drafts technical drawings
For smaller projects may oversee all design and drawing
Provides a review of engineering and landscape drawings to ensure they comply with the design solution
With Senior Designer, researches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projects
Ensures integration into the overall design
Preliminary concept plans for larger projects
May develop and finalize a conceptual design for smaller projects
Oversees Intermediate Designer to review space plans and tackles more complicated issues
Provides detail for interior and architectural design projects
Develops and delivers overall design and furniture packages for both interior and exterior
Assists in developing packages for larger projects
Obtains cost estimates and produces final cost estimates
Manages design budget for assigned projects
May mentor the work of Junior and Intermediate Designers
Qualifications:
Graduate of architecture or design school; equivalent experience may be substituted
6+ years’ experience in workplace design, focusing on building repositioning and adaptive re-use projects as well as corporate interiors
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of design principles, workplace trends, and aesthetics
Extensive knowledge of repositioning and adaptive re-use projects
Advanced presentation skills
Advanced knowledge of space planning
Extensive knowledge of furnishings and finishes
Extensive with the concepts of furniture layout
Advanced sketching and rendering skills
Advanced architecture detailing skills
Extensive knowledge of CDs and procedures
Extensive knowledge of building systems, codes, and ADA requirements
Working knowledge of path of travel requirements
Working knowledge of contract administration
Intermediate MS Office Suite skills
Advanced Revit skills
Advanced Adobe Creative Suite skills
