Byers Engineering, a MasTec company, is seeking a full-time OSP Designer in support of a large-scale telecommunications project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interact with internal & external customers and represent our Company and our Client in a professional manner
- Analyze plant records and determine work to be done
- Take field notes for the design of work in aerial, buried, underground, and building applications
- Prepare work order construction prints, and records posting in the completion of assigned work
- Use computers to CAD design a job and utilize all associated computer systems required in the completion of a job
- Manage a workload and complete due dated work
- Act as interface to external customers on the clients behalf to effectively negotiate service requirements and time frames on existing, future, or unique undertakings
- Coordinate with other entities (utilities, governmental agencies, contractors, developers, etc.) to determine proper and efficient placement of potentially shared/joint use facilities
- Adhere to all Company Safety practices & policies
- No supervisory responsibilities
Qualifications:
Required Skills:
- Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within OSP job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards.
- Knowledge of fiber optic counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in a high density fiber environment.
- Experience working all aspects of telecom with knowledge of NESC, NEC and OSHA standards.
- Knowledge of engineering tools including GIS Programs and AutoCAD platforms.
- Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.
Skills:
- Possess STRONG communication & PEOPLE skills
- Strong language skills are required, both oral & written
- Show a sense of urgency to get the job done to meet all due dates
- Follow-up with our customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work
- Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field is preferred, OR Telecomm, Engineering, or Drafting completed courses and diploma from a technical school or community college
- Basic operating knowledge of CAD systems a priority
- Experience completing job designs & construction drawings using the GIS program
- Qualify on pre-employment screening
- Must pass a drug test
- Obtain satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening
- Possess a valid state drivers license and non-negligent driving record
- Possess reliable transportation

- Tools are provided, i.e. measuring wheel, height stick, PPE, hand tools
- PC equipment is provided, i.e. laptop & supporting equipment
Compensation:
$22-25/hr
