We are looking for a Mechanical Piping Designer with proficiency in AutoCAD(Revit would also be preferred). This is an MEP-focused role, involving the creation and coordination of mechanical piping models to support project requirements.


Location: Phoenix, AZ(ONSITE)

Schedule: Monday- Friday

Job Type: Full time, contract to hire(6-12 months then conversion to permanent employee)

Pay Rate: $35-40 per hour(based on experience)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed mechanical piping models using Revit and AutoCAD to support MEP project requirements.
  • Create working drawings and documents that outline mechanical systems for installation and coordination.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Produce and manage reports including AD Verification, Valve and Damper Schedules, Equipment Orientation Schedules, Material Requisitions, and Specification Checklists.
  • Ensure all generated documents comply with contractual and company standards.

Project Coordination:

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Field Team, and Clients to produce coordination and installation drawings.
  • Conduct quality control on CAD drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents, efficiency in routing options, and proper hanger placements.

Site Visits and RFIs:

  • Visit assigned projects twice per month to gain insights into installation methods for cost-saving improvements.
  • Generate RFIs to identify and address project conflicts with proposed resolutions.

Internal and External Communication:

  • Attend all internal and external meetings related to CAD design tasks, including Estimating Turnover, Field Turnover, and BIM coordination meetings.
  • Maintain constructive communication and foster positive relationships with contractors, engineers, clients, vendors, and team members.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience with CAD software
  • Minimum 4+ years of working in the mechanical/piping trades.
  • Spool Drawings, Fabrication Drawings, or relevant experience(preferred).
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proactive problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and contract documents.
