As a Senior CAD Designer at Astrolab, you will be responsible for creating and developing detailed engineering drawings that bring our lunar rover from concept to reality. You will work collaboratively with our engineering design team to understand the mechanical needs of the rover and leverage your experience to contribute to the evolution of the design. This role requires a deep understanding of GD&T and proficiency in Siemens NX for creating detailed engineering drawings and CAD models.
This is a contract position open for 3 to 6 months.

This role requires a deep understanding of GD&T and proficiency in Siemens NX for creating detailed engineering drawings and CAD models.

What you'll do:
- Create detailed engineering drawings using Siemens NX, ensuring compliance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards
- Identify, propose, and lead design specifications while working with the engineering team to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Develop and document design requirements from various internal stakeholders, including the vehicle engineering, test, and integration teams
- Coordinate and manage design modifications related to parts, production changes, and any necessary revisions
- Collaborate with engineering teams to identify and solve design-related challenges, contributing to continuous design improvements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace or automotive design
- 5+ years of experience in Siemens NX for CAD modeling and detailed engineering drawings
- Deep expertise in GD&T and applying these principles in design work
- Familiarity with Teamcenter PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) or similar PLM tools
- Experience with machined component design, sheet metal fabrication, and working with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for production
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
