The Mechanical Product Designer III is responsible for creating mechanical product concepts and designs that reflect functional and manufacturing requirements. This position will collaborate with stakeholders like engineering, manufacturing, marketing, procurement, and suppliers to produce final designs that meet safety, manufacturability timeline, and cost constraints. This position will utilize Autodesk Software (Inventor/Vault) to create 3D and 2D design packages throughout the NPD process. The Mechanical Product Designer III must be able to collaborate independently with the necessary parties to complete the work as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelors in Industrial Design/Mechanical Engineering or Associates Degree in Mechanical Design Technology.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of progressive mechanical design experience. 5 years of product development experience preferred.
Travel: 5-10%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday- Friday. Overtime may be required. Ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops product design concepts using Autodesk Inventor from product requirements document.
Produces 2D/3D manufacturing, assembly, sales, marketing, etc. drawings.
Provides material, manufacturing, application engineering/support as necessary.
Coordinates with internal and external clients to maintain project schedule and budgets.
Provides support and release of drawings, BOM's, and other files as necessary within Autodesk Vault PDM.
Presents technical information during design reviews, normally in the form of CAD model presentations and manipulations for viewing and discussion.
Provides information required to enable creating and processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) from start to the point of design release for production.
Reviews junior level Inventor-produced drawings against design input for accuracy.
Consistently follows FTI established design standards.
Creates technical manuals for operation and maintenance of products.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
