JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The Madlyn L. Hanes Library at Penn State Harrisburg seeks a motivated and responsible individual to work part-time in the Access Services Department.
Responsibilities
This position is for approximately 20 hours a week. The rate of pay is $15/hour. Applicants should be available to work during the academic school year, semester breaks, and over the summer. During the fall and spring semesters, the person in this position must work Mondays from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. During the summer sessions and holiday breaks, work schedules are based upon the library's operating hours.
Candidates must have strong interpersonal and computer skills, and the ability to collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Minimum job requirements include excellent customer service skills, a high degree of dependability and flexibility, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Previous library experience preferred.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here.

- Open and/or close the library during scheduled work hours
- Provide services to campus and community patrons.
- Perform circulation desk functions (check materials in/out, collect fines and fees, register new borrowers, and process daily circulation reports).
- Answer general information and basic reference questions.
- Manage undergraduate student assistants.
- Report on any library maintenance, equipment, and security issues.
- Assist in special projects.
