Overview:
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs are searching for hardworking, friendly, and creative individuals looking for an opportunity to get involved in the Marketing Department. This internship will last from February 1st - September 30th , 2025. This position is a $1,000/month stipend, with the potential of a full-salary role at the expiration of the internship.
Description:
The main responsibility of our marketing interns is to "get the word out" about the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. This is done by going out into our surrounding neighborhoods and promoting the team. Marketing interns will also be a critical component to planning and coordinating our 2025 Regular Season theme nights. Each intern will work in conjunction with a Blue Crabs staff member to coordinate and implement some of our upcoming theme nights from all aspects.
Responsibilities:The marketing intern will assist the marketing department in the following areas as well as those assigned by the AGM of Marketing:
- Theme night development
- Attending community events
- Using grassroots marketing techniques to distribute promotional information to the community
- Assist in utilizing our ticketing system, Glitnir, to push out additional messages via e-mail to select audiences
- Representing the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs as Pinch (team's mascot)
- Assist with promotional and marketing programs' mailers
- Promotions development
- Assist in creating collateral for partners and advertisers
- Community relations and customer service
- Video production and graphic design
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Aggressive, competitive, and committed to the sports industry
- Highly motivated with a desire to be successful
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Detail-oriented and organized; ability to handle several projects at once
- Any experience working for a team, athletic department or event is beneficial
- Must be available to work flexible hours during the season (April to September).
