Job SummaryThe Music Therapist (Per Diem) is responsible for covering the Music Therapy Program Manager (MTPM) which will include completing visits to patients, supervising interns when MTPM is on PTO, addressing pediatric MT referrals, attending IDG when requested and being a part of Music Therapy Intern (MTI) training on occasion. Essential ResponsibilitiesProvides MT therapy services to hospice patients and/or their families in homes and facilities when coverage for MT visits are needed to meet visit frequency.Promptly completes and maintains all required documentation per agency policy.Communicates urgent or unusual occurrences to Chief Clinical Officer or designee.Conducts MT assessments when needed and provides interventions that meet individual and family needs.Educates patients and families, hospice staff and the community at large about the role of the Music Therapist and the use of music therapy interventions. Collaborates with interdisciplinary group team members and revises plan of care as appropriate.Addresses pediatric referrals.When needed, provides supervision to MTI and completes observation visits with MTIs to meet the requirements of American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).Takes part in MTI's orientation when needed.Follows appropriate infection control policies.Performs other related job duties as assigned by Supervisor. ComplianceEnsures all HIPAA Privacy and Security Regulations, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and all other regulatory/compliance requirements are understood and followed.RequirementsEducation/ExperienceBoard certified music therapistMaster's degree in music therapy preferred, undergraduate degree consideredAt least one year of experience in the field desired. Experience with elders/terminally ill preferredMust have proficient guitar skills, confident and pleasant singing voice, interest in self-exploration, increasing repertoire to fit population, and interest in expanding technological skillsAbility to create a safe environment and mode of expression through musicAssess communication barriers and create adapted experiences to increase emotional expression and/or increased engagement with loved onesAssess need for meaningful activityAssess lack of support system, isolationAsses the need for spiritual expressionAssess anticipatory grief, multiple lossesProficient in utilizing music therapy techniques to address symptoms such as:anxiety, restlessness, respiratory difficulties, insomnia, depression and agitationSkills Required Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Microsoft TeamsCertifications, Licenses, Registrations Pass OIG/GSA review and all required background checks and TB test Current Driver's License and vehicle insurancePhysical DemandsStrength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 poundsVision to read printed materials and a computer screenHearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephoneWork Environment/Environmental ConditionMust possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer/iPadWork is performed in combination of private homes, care facilities and office environment and will experience a variety of settings and situationsMust be able to drive and have car available
