The Studio Technical Lead supports broadcast television and radio studio facilities for an established multi-channel retailer company. This key role is responsible for:
- overseeing the day-to-day operations, coordination and execution of all studio productions;
- partnering with the client production team to collaborate on studio support needs;
- maintaining, organizing, advising, operating, and troubleshooting all aspects of the clients studio facilities; and
- overseeing and managing all assigned AVI-SPL staff within assigned location.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Studio Technical Lead supports broadcast television and radio studio facilities for an established multi-channel retailer company. This key role is responsible for:
- overseeing the day-to-day operations, coordination and execution of all studio productions;
- partnering with the client production team to collaborate on studio support needs;
- maintaining, organizing, advising, operating, and troubleshooting all aspects of the clients studio facilities; and
- overseeing and managing all assigned AVI-SPL staff within assigned location.
DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Support
- Oversee the day-to-day coordination and design of production needs to support studio production experiences through professional quality video, audio, lighting, and presentation to allow the client and external partners to connect and communicate their message in a distinct and technologically innovative way to colleagues and customers alike.
- Meet with client team and requestors to understand production scope and provide solutions to meet production requirements.
- Coordinate the technical production needs for all events and ensure requirements are in full compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Facilitate equipment rental and other supplemental production requirements.
- Manage all aspects of day of production support including the coordination of all studio resources.
- Ensure fully quality check and optimization of facility, event assets, and experience prior to production.
- Assist with presenter preparation including direction, facilitating rehearsal and other pre-event needs.
- Oversee postproduction needs including basic editing and delivery of recordings.
- Fill in necessary production crew positions as needed.
Production Management
- Organize event metrics and feedback and provide recommendations on areas for improvement.
- Participate in assessment of technical challenges and oversee creation of incident and postmortem reports.
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with team members to ensure alignment on event procedures, scheduling, and production briefs as required.
- Develop and document best practices for the studio including maintenance, scheduling, production operations and technologies to ensure top level of production quality and consistency.
- Coordinate with client engineering teams to facilitate repair needs to ensure operational readiness of facilities.
- Brainstorm ideas and provide solutions to enhance production value, facility, technology, and process improvements.
- Develop and provide key factors analysis report to manager on a quarterly basis.
- Learn and utilize any specialized technical skills during productions as needed.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
Must-have skills & job qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in live event production, event coordination, broadcast, audio/visual and video production, or another similar field.
- 3+ years of experience in:
- onsite, virtual, and hybrid live events
- database and scheduling management
- Knowledge of traditional event production, broadcast, and digital equipment.
- A keen eye for detail with a knowledge of what creatively works well for broadcast production.
- Ability to work independently and be self-reliant in the execution of daily responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain composure and a positive attitude during high pressure situations.
- Ability to communicate challenging aspects to clients while maintaining a high level of confidence and leadership.
- Track record of being organized, detail-oriented, flexible, and working well in a team atmosphere, as well as having the capability to work well individually, is essential.
- Strong work ethic, self-direction, self-motivation, patience, persistence, and perspective.
- Excellent collaboration and customer relationship skills with the understanding of the importance of white glove service.
- Consistent proactive preparation and timely responses to multiple channels of communication.
Nice-to-have skills
- Knowledgeable in the operations and technical execution of video production, audio-visual technology, and event space facilities.
- Experience in various production roles including but not limited to technical directing, audio mixing, camera operation, and editing.
- Experience with various production environments and video switchers including Grass Valley and Ross Acuity.
- Experience with audio production systems including Yamaha audio consoles, Dante audio routing networks, Shure microphones, and intercom systems.
- Experience with Telemetrics, Sony, Panasonic and Black Magic robotic cameras.
- Experience with Adder KVM systems.
- Experience with Haivision encoding and decoding systems.
- Familiarity with post-production software including Adobe Premiere and Final Cut Pro.
- College degree in video production, broadcasting, communications, or similar field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid drivers license and safe driving record.
- Travel is required based on requirements and location of productions and service needs including meetings at client offices and AVI-SPL offices.
