Henderson Engineers is seeking a BIM Technical Director to join their team in Lenexa, KS. The BIM Technical Director will be responsible for the quality and efficiency of BIM Execution for the entire company. They will define and maintain Revit and other SOP platforms. They will also be responsible for companywide BIM Content accuracy, availability, and operability by internal clients. They will need to promote awareness and use of automations across sectors and direct implementation of platforms throughout the organization related to BIM. The BIM Technical Director will additionally need to define and cascade goals, accountabilities and KPIs that the different sectors can use to measure and grow BIM effectiveness aligning with the overall company vision.
Minimum Qualifications for the Role are:
- Ten (10) or greater years of relevant experience, with a minimum of five (5) years leadership/management experience. (e.g., personnel management, project management, program direction, strategic leadership).
- History of building and/or overseeing technically superior teams that drive business results.
- Extensive understanding of the technical needs of the industry and proven track record of quality monitoring, maintenance, and improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional leadership to align efforts and meet organizational goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any engineering, construction management, science, or technology preferred. (Years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of requisite education.)
Skills and Duties you will be Responsible for while in this role:
Operations:
- Define and maintain the Revit and other SOP platforms.
- Direct the resources (software, hardware, and personnel) required for BIM processes, ensuring they are used efficiently.
- Communicates/translates data flow from Data Specialists through the business.
- Directs implementation of platforms throughout the organization related to BIM.
- Develops, monitors, and implements policies and procedures appropriate to the technical execution including Engineer of Record and licensing/certification needs within the sector, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and corporate guidelines.
- Teams with sector leadership to align staffing decisions and workload forecasting with engineering approach for the sector.
- Supervises Sector Technical Managers and other roles responsible for technical quality within the sector.
- Provides technical expertise in support of risk management team to resolve project disputes.
Profitability:
- Contributes to strategic decisions involving technical expertise and development needs in response to current and future industry demands.
- Develops the annual budget for the sector in cooperation with the sector leadership team, manages aspects of the budget related to technical execution to maximize profits.
- Aligns sector technical processes and execution in support of company goals and strategies.
- Collaborates to identify opportunities to leverage BIM strengths in pursuit of new work to ensure a competitive market position.
Employee Engagement/Teamwork:
- Collaborates with engineering disciplines to provide necessary support.
- Assists Sectors in developing and implementing BIM related data revenue streams.
- Coordinate with sector leadership to align sector BIM approach with the overall company-wide BIM approach.
- Collaborate on risk management and quality control principles as it relates to BIM.
- Collaborates to identify opportunities to leverage BIM strengths in pursuit of new work to ensure competitive market position.
- Mentors BIM Technical Managers and supports efforts to provide BIM training and mentoring on sectors.
- Holistically set the tone for how we will engage with BIM, collaborating with the various applications managers that are adjacent to BIM (e.g., Revit, Grasshopper, Rhino, ACC/BIM 360, etc), the technical managers collaborating on setting standards for BIM, the disciplines applying their technical work through BIM tools, and BIM Specialists developing processes for BIM software.
Client Experience:
- Aligns technical execution across the sector to streamline client experience and maximize client satisfaction.
- Supports business development decisions to ensure technical expertise meets future client expectations.
- Supports project teams to resolve client concerns and/or dispute regarding technical quality.
- Controls the standards around BIM as a file, BIM as a process, and BIM as a product concept to meet our client's needs.
- Attends client meetings offering input and presenting BIM capabilities.
- Collaborates on the execution of standards around BIM as a file, BIM as a process, and BIM as a product concepts.
Growth & Innovation:
- Pursues and uses up-to-date technical expertise and industry knowledge to assist sector leadership team in developing plans for the growth and development of the sector.
- Supports implementation of companywide innovation goals at the sector level.
- Represents company technical expertise in industrywide events and/or thought leadership.
- Communicate results of R&D and establish paths for day-to-day usage of technology in meeting client needs.
- Pursues and uses up-to-date technical expertise and industry knowledge to assist sectors in developing plans for growth and development of BIM.
