Job Description
The Development Writer is responsible for producing high-quality written materials to be utilized by the Development team, the broader Advancement Department, and the entire organization. The materials should both inspire donors of all levels to make new gifts to CJP; as well as motivate existing donors to continue their ongoing support.
The Development Writer will focus on producing reports and proposals for individuals, corporations, and foundations, and thus, requires exceptional writing skills, as well as a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and follow-up. The Development Writer will manage projects requiring considerable discretion, judgment, tact, diplomacy, and timely responsiveness.
**Essential Functions:**
+ Supports the production of annual impact reporting and one-off reports as needed for donors. Works in partnership with Senior Director, Donor Relations, and the Senior Development Writer, to develop content, meet deadlines, and ensure projects stay on track.
+ Drafts proposals to individuals, corporations, and foundations and assembles necessary supporting documents (including budgets, board lists, and organizational information.)
+ Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with Advancement colleagues in service of developing personalized, donor-centered proposals and reports.
+ Manages portal submissions, and formats proposals and reports according to CJPs brand and style guidelines.
+ Edits and proofreads written materials for the team and the larger department.
+ Maintains records, tracks progress to deadlines, and solicitation outcomes according to team standards.
+ Works with colleagues across the organization to gather information needed for successful and impactful solicitation and stewardship materials. Collects and organizes the information to facilitate widespread repurposing of impact/donor content.
+ Provides additional writing support to the department as needed, which may include: donor profiles/donor quotes, individual correspondence, emails, donor recognition report content, and other materials as needed.
+ Provides support and partnership to departmental priorities and special projects as needed.
+ Occasional weekend or evening coverage for events.

Requirements
**Education:**
+ Bachelors or higher degree in writing, journalism, marketing or other discipline appropriate for the position.
**Experience:**
+ 3-5 years of experience in development, fundraising, or grant writing experience preferred.

**Organizational Relationships/Scope:**
Reports to the Senior Director, Donor Relations. Has no direct reports.
**Working Conditions:**
+ Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.
+ Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.
