The Communications Associate, Earthjustice Action will be responsible for drafting and creating content for public distribution, executing the organization's email strategy, managing the organization's social media channels, regularly updating the organization's website, and other duties as assigned. This role will report to the Earthjustice Public Affairs and Communications Officer for Policy and Legislation and work closely with staff across both Earthjustice Action and Earthjustice, as well as external consultants, as it relates to their responsibilities. We are looking for a savvy, experienced communicator to join our growing team as we develop Earthjustice Action's communications capacity, sharpen our political messaging, and expand our visibility. Applicants willing to work from the Washington, DC office under a hybrid model (2x weekly) are preferred. However, we will consider remote applicants within the US. Responsibilities: Content Creation and Branding for Earthjustice Action (30%) Draft content for the Earthjustice Action blog, website, social media channels, and print materials. In partnership with their supervisor, develop internal message guidance for colleagues. Review, edit, and approve content and materials produced by Communications team members to ensure they adhere to brand standards and further strategic communications goals for the organization. Maintains close fidelity to organizational branding requirements and serves as an advisor to colleagues throughout the Communications department and organization on ensuring messages are on-brand, further institutional goals, and c4 compliant. Email Marketing (20%) Support the technical and operational aspects of implementing the organization's communications plan. Direct marketing email content drafting, editing, and proofing. Create emails in digital marketing software, EveryAction, using html. Maintain and create audience segmentation lists, including hygiene. Coordinate with various stakeholders on content calendar and adhere to 501(c)(4) rules around data privacy and permissible messaging. Participate in organizational working groups related to relevant software enhancements, implementation of new data systems, and stay up to date on organizational policies. Support the creation of documentation of processes and routines related to email marketing on the organization's intranet site (Atlas). Social Media Outreach (20%) Create and post content related to Earthjustice Action's mission and program work across existing social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram). Create images, videos, and other content using Adobe products to enhance posts. Monitors relevant accounts and hashtags in our priority states; amplifies partners' content as appropriate. Develops social media toolkits for various audiences and campaigns. Maintain social media post calendar and schedule. Assist in the creation and management of new social media channels (e.g., TikTok). Setup social media ad-buys and help keep track of spending in conjunction with supervisor. Track metrics across channels to support communication and program objectives. Website (20%) Add new and update existing content in the form of new pages, blog posts, landing pages, and program-related campaigns. Track website traffic and performance through Google Analytics and similar tools. Support the advancement of constituent mobilization via the alignment of social, email, and web content and action alerts. Other Duties (10%) Support creation and updating of internal documentation related to job duties. Stay up to date on 501(c)(4) rules around communications, lobbying, and electoral efforts. Works with external consultants; ensures adherence to Earthjustice Action's visual brand guidelines. Manage timely responses to general email and phone inquiries. Operational support for program work as needed. Required Qualifications: 3-4 years of relevant experience working within a 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) affiliated organizational setting. Bachelor's degree, and/or demonstrated experience working with organizations to execute email program, website maintenance, engaging content, and social media marketing. Working knowledge of technical aspects of carrying out email marketing program, including experience using EveryAction (or similar platform), list segmentation, and relevant coding skills. Social media marketing experience, including content creation, posting, and scheduling. Experience using WordPress or similar website developer software and basic to advanced web design skills. Experience using Adobe products, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Desire and ability to learn new software and programs relevant to job duties. Ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds and promote equity and inclusion for staff, donors, and board members. Knowledge and understanding of 501(c)(4) and 501(c)(3) organizations. Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, both independently and as a member of cross-departmental teams. Adaptable to a fast, dynamic pace of work and priorities. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Understanding of 501(c)(4) specific rules and guidance around communications. Desired qualifications: Environmental and/or political and advocacy campaign experience. Washington, DC : $83,400 - $92,700 Other US locations: New York, NY and San Francisco, CA: $87,800 - $97,500 Other salary ranges will vary between $74,600-$92,700 depending on location.
