Product Marketing Manager
We are an early stage climate tech startup with a need for a stellar experienced marketer to take it to the next level of growth. You will be instrumental in charting our path forward as we grow from early product market fit to established leader in the space. With a ten year track record serving the largest class A office owners in North America, Cortex is a proven solution to turn ESG ambitions into improved NOI and reduced operating costs. Real-time insights and recommendations are served to building teams proactively to reduce waste and spend. We unlock visibility across portfolios to save owners and tenants money every day and accelerate the path to net zero. You will be a key translator of customer insights to enhance and redefine our product capabilities, leading cross-functional teams through transformational messaging and productization alignment to unlock value for our customers.

Real estate is the single largest contributor to carbon emissions, with buildings and construction generating nearly 40% of global carbon emissions. As the wave of sustainability incentives and requirements sweep across the US and the world, buildings are going to be right in the middle of decarbonizing, and it's happening now.
Last year we helped our clients save over 23,000 tons of CO2, which is the equivalent of taking over 13,000 cars off the road. Unlike our competitors, we require no new sensors, and no equipment upgrades. On average we see an 11% reduction in CO2 emissions for our clients. We are serving clients in 10 markets, including Canada, and serve some of the biggest brands in the market, including Empire State Realty Trust and Silverstein Properties.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Own the product marketing lifecycle: Design and own our go to market commercialization marketing strategy, differentiated messaging, and content to support our growth engine in a competitive, highly fragmented marketplace
- Craft compelling content across various formats including brochures, white papers, blog posts, case studies, and webinar presentations. Develop educational content and marketing collateral, translating product value into compelling and digestible materials for our target audience
- Work in the field alongside seasoned account executives to bring customer value to life through case studies, support for ESG reports, and video testimonials; Voice of the Customer research and in-person field exposure to clients will be critical
- Collaborate closely with the Product team to understand and capture current and future product capabilities; bring customer insights from the market to product to inform the roadmap and categories of feature sets
- Market intelligence—be the expert on our buyers, who are they, how they buy and their key buying criteria including owning ongoing, well-researched competitive analysis of the building analytics, energy software and real estate tech landscape
- Support sales pipeline build with credibility and well-researched perspectives on the market trends and developments that come to life in thought leadership content and sales enablement tools
- Assess the effectiveness of the marketing programs that support your products on an ongoing basis, and report back to the business on required changes.
- Plan the launches of net-new products and releases of existing products, and manage the cross-functional implementation of the product plan
- Help maintain and evolve marketing process and performance metrics, including integration plans for Salesforce, Hubspot and social media platforms
- Participate in account-based marketing efforts into top Strategic Accounts
- Lead marketing activities and events strategies with a consistent and impactful message resonating in all online communication channels, particularly the website and corporate pages
Drive key results:
- Support growth in ARR and overall success of business in bringing innovative products to market
- Contribute to strong differentiation and adoption of new products and modules to support further value realization for our customers
- Build proof points to endorse our products and customer success outcomes so Cortex continues to stand out in a crowded market
- Expand target audience and awareness of our capabilities and how we help customers make progress against their ESG goals
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of product marketing experience with at least 2 years of experience in a market-facing role (e.g. delivering presentations to customers and prospects, conducting competitor analysis and market research)
- Comfortable using collaboration and CRM tools such as Slack and Salesforce
- Must be a strong public speaker, comfortable in front of large, senior groups, and a solid writer
- Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties
- Experience in climate technology, building analytics and energy software preferred
- Bachelor's degree in business, liberal arts, or marketing; MBA preferred
